โจ I feel so lucky to be part of this beautiful space โจ
WOMB in Cathays, Cardiff is not an usual yoga studioโฆ yes, it offers lots of wonderful classes, but itโs also so much more than that.
Itโs a space guided by a matriarchal perspective, centring mothers and birthing people, recognising them as the first source of love, safety and belonging.
There is so much work behind the scenes to make everything more inclusive, supportive, and community-ledโฆ and Iโm so happy to be part of it๐ฅฐ
Iโm offering FREE drop-in sessions where mums and mums-to-be can come and chat with me.
As a doula, I:
โข hold space,
โข listen without judgement,
โข gently guide with questions,
โข share resources and information.

I look forward to meeting you.

โจ And stay tunedโฆ a new FREE group is coming in June โจ

This week is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, and the figures remain the same:
One in five mothers suffers from a perinatal mood disorder, the most common being postnatal depression and postnatal anxiety.
These figures are far too high. And I am convinced that this is due to the combination of factors involved in being a mother in modern societies:
๐Very little support in all areas.
๐A lack of connection.
๐Too much pressure to recover quickly.
๐Unrealistic and idealised view of the postpartum period and motherhood.
๐And a reluctance to show vulnerability and ask for help.
In societies where there is a sense of community, support is everywhere and motherhood is expected to be real, these figures are extremely low๐งก
๐ชThat is why, at .sanctuary , we work to offer a real and compassionate approach to motherhood for new mums and mums-to-be. An approach full of genuine support and real connection, far away from the pressure of image and perfection๐ฅ
Postnatal Circles: support group for mums and babies.

Join us and feel different๐ฅฐ

The more honest and real conversations we have about the postpartum period, the more we normalise the wide range of emotions involved, and the further we move away from the unrealistic expectations society places on mums.
Motherhood has never been so demanding, with so little support๐ค
Thatโs why support groups for mothers are more necessary than ever๐ช
Knowing that youโre not alone, that another mum is going through something similar. Different experiences, yet easy to relate to.
That what youโre feeling is completely normal.
And understanding the system we live in: one that puts pressure on us, but doesnโt support us.
Realising all this makes us feel better๐
If you have a baby, I invite you to join us on Mondays for the Postpartum Circles. We meet every week.
If youโre at a different stage of motherhood, take a look at our monthly meet-up: Mothersโ Circle.

A few days ago, a woman who doesnโt live in the UK contacted me to give her friend and new mum a Closing the Bones ceremony. Thatโs direct support for her!
And then I realized that over the past few months, friends and family have been reaching out to me to offer my support as a doula to a new mum. So much more than in previous years! Not just for a Closing the Bones session, but also for postnatal support at home and even for birth support๐
And of course, the support that a group of mothers provides to other mums in the postpartum period to attend the Postnatal Circles๐ซ
Itโs as if people are slowly beginning to understand better just how important it is to care for the mother during this important time. So mothers feel stronger, capable and cared for on their journey into motherhood๐ช๐งก
Is something really changing?
PS the photo is from Christmas but I still send out gift vouchers during the rest of the year!

This is my journey as a doula๐งก
28/03/2026
As a mother and someone who supports women in the postpartum period, I see how many mothers feel guilty and ashamed about something that is rarely spoken about: anger.
'Mum rage' can make you feel isolated. Many women worry that there is something wrong with them when they experience these feelings.
But the reality is that it is a signal.
It is a sign that mothers are unsupported, exhausted and expected to cope alone with too much.
Rather than facing more guilt and silence, mothers need more support and understanding, as well as spaces where they can speak openly about what the postpartum period is really like.
It's time to change the narrative.
If you are looking for a place where you can be yourself, connect with other mothers and receive support, you are more than welcome to join my postnatal groups.
You don't have to do it alone๐งก
