Time and time again, tired, overwhelmed parents tell me that they’ve tried to squeeze a bit of time for themselves into their day but it never sticks. Kids get sick, jobs get busy and the school holidays roll around with alarming regularity and the best laid plans fall by the wayside.
Others have told me that they just don't believe time for themselves is a realistic option now that their are parents. Learning HOW working on their wellbeing can solve pretty much any parenting problem they've ever had is the permission slip they've needed to finally allow themselves time.
You can learn how to find time for yourself, how to make those habits stick and how to feel calm, centred and in control as a parent all in one fabulous day at The Woodland Wind Down.
You'll get the opportunity to relax in the great outdoors, learn some new woodland skills from a fully qualified Forest Skills instructor and make an actionable plan to finally make time for yourself.

Quick question: Do you want to feel calmer, happier and more in control as a parent this year?
I don't know many parents who would say no to that! But I know plenty who will say that's just not possible when you are looking after small people.
I'm here to tell you it's more than possible. In actual fact it's easier than you think.
Parenting is hard, damn hard at times. But approaching it in a way that means you feel strong, resilient and ready for anything is surprisingly simple.
Join me and Sheena O'Leary of for The Woodland Wind Down next month, an outdoor day experience for tired parents, and in just one day you will learn exactly how to do that.
We'll also be digging into why it feels so hard to take the time you need to recharge your batteries so we can blast through those barriers.
Finally I’ll show you how to make sure you never run on empty again and start to put yourself to the top of your to-do list
Sound good? Register here! www.lauralivingstonecoaching.co.uk/woodland-winddown.
See you by the campfire.

Ever since you became a parent have you been struggling to find time for yourself?
Perhaps you booked a yoga class but cancelled it more times than you've done sun salutes. Maybe you plan nights out with friends and then when the evening comes you are too exhausted to get out of your joggers.
You know you *should* take better care of yourself but sometimes, as a tired parent, it just seems like yet another thing on the to do list.
Worse than that you can't shake the feeling that self-care is just, well, a bit selfish.
The key is to start thinking differently about WHY you need self-care so you'll never make another excuse and you'll never feel guilty for making time for yourself.
Our upcoming outdoor day-long workshop - The Woodland Wind Down - will teach you how to see caring for yourself as a vital investment - not another chore - so that you find it easy to find the time and make space in your busy schedule.
Because once you do, you'll start reaping incredible rewards! How do I know? Because I've been there!
I ran on empty for years, never finding time to refill my cup and always putting myself and self-care to the bottom of my to-do list. It seemed to make sense, after all I had no time for such frivolity as a mum to two young children.
Then it all came crashing down. My body stopped in most spectacular fashion. An attack of stress-induced vertigo kept me in bed for weeks. I was signed off work, I couldn't walk to the bathroom much less do the school run.
And suddenly I realised that if I was going to get better and get my s**t sorted out I needed to start taking my wellbeing seriously. I couldn't afford to ignore it again and end up back here.
I made self-care a regular part of my life not because I got less busy. I did it precisely because I didn't have time not to.
I don't want you to have to hit rock bottom like I did to learn the same lesson!
This is exactly why Sheena O'Leary of Sticks and Stones Outdoor Learning and I have put together this woodland experience to walk you through exactly how to find time for yourself and make self-care a priority - not a nice to have.

No-one wants to have to explain to kids that the world is a brutal, unfair and sometimes frankly inexplicable place.
But the parents of this generation of children have spent the last few years in Tricky Questions Bootcamp. First the pandemic, now war in Ukraine.
The nature and location of this conflict means that our kids are painfully aware of it and asking us eleventy billion questions.
I'm sorry but I have no easy answers here. I'm not going to pretend I know the perfect way to deal with these questions or the impact of living through such events on us or our kids.
But I do know some things NOT to do. Ways not to talk to children about this, or any, worrying event. Common traps to avoid in order to keep lines of communication open and help kids manage anxiety both now and in the future.
It boils down to four don'ts:
DON'T lie or make false promises
DON'T minimise their concerns
DON'T make it age inappropriate
DON'T pretend you aren't worried if you are

All you have to do to get your spot on the kind of transformative coaching experience that will have you writing reviews like these is go to www.lauralivingstonecoaching.co.uk/woodland-winddown and use the code EARLYBIRD when you book.
Join me and on March 26th or 27th for a day in beautiful private woodland learning to come home to yourself.

This is me on my very first Mothering Sunday as a mother myself. I remember that moment so well, the joy of the baby snuggles and his completely uncomprehending glee at the wrapping paper around the presents his father had bought and wrapped on his behalf.
But I also remember the sheer cross-eyed exhaustion. I barely need to conjure that memory up because you can see it written all over my face in this picture!
I remember wishing I could just go back to bed but having to get up and pack the inevitably ginourmous nappy/toy bag that would be required to get through the nice pub lunch my husband had so carefully and thoughtfully arranged.
It’s not that we don’t want to spend a lovely day with our children, it’s not that we’re not SUPER grateful for the scrawled cards and handmade gifts and lovely days out they “plan”. But when that day is supposedly devoted to “giving mum a rest” and you end up working just as hard as you do on any other (actually, sometimes harder because there’s such a lot of pressure on making it a nice day) then it just feels a little bit galling doesn’t it?
And it’s true of all those milestone days in the calendar isn’t it? Birthdays, Christmas, any big celebration really and you’ll find Mums doing a lot of work just to make them happen and then spending not a lot of time actually enjoying the event itself.
Now you’re probably not going to be able to absent yourself from the celebrations of your next birthday or book yourself a massage on Christmas morning (although if you do you have my full support, you’ve earned it!)
But on this one day of the year we are told we can have it any which way we want so let’s grab that opportunity! Stop waiting for someone else to guess your needs. Decide now how you want your Mothering Sunday to look this year and let your nearest and dearest know in precise detail because how else will they know? I suspect that “time on my own to just sit in silence and drink a hot cup of tea” is top of a lot of mums’ wishlists and yet that doesn’t feature in many gift guides!
And if that is what’s top of your list then I have something you might like because my upcoming outdoor coaching and relaxation event, The Woodland Wind-down with , falls on the weekend of Mothering Sunday!
We want you to be able to sit with that hot cup of tea, to get quiet enough that you can hear your own thoughts, to slow down and just be in nature, if that’s what will make your heart sing on Mother’s Day. Join us for just the Saturday and spend Sunday enjoying your kids’ attempts at breakfast in bed or go the whole hog and spend the whole weekend with us and return to your family truly rested and refreshed.
Places are limited and are booking up fast and prices go up next week so don’t hang about, book your spot today at www.lauralivingstonecoaching.co.uk/woodland-winddown Or forward this post to your significant other with the message: Big Hint!

The real reasons why you feel tired, overwhelmed and at the end of your rope aren't always the ones we think.
Yes, parenting is exhausting and time consuming but I am willing to bet there are pockets of time in your day when you are spending energy you don't have on things you don't need to do.
Most relaxation "tips" won't work if you are winding yourself up in this way.
Come along to The Woodland Wind Down event on March 26th and/or March 27th to *really* learn to relax as a parent. Go to www.lauralivingstonecoaching.co.uk/woodland-winddown or
