Cardiff Maths Tutor

19 years teaching experience; providing online tuition; Years 8 - 13; Helping student confidence. I'm Dave Ashton, the person behind Cardiff Maths Tutor.

I am dyslexic, and have first hand experience of what it is like to struggle at school, including in mathematics. This means that my lessons are tailored with activities that embed understanding and develop students ability and confidence in mathematics. I have created exam walk through videos to support my students' which will always be available on YouTube to help any students, so if you want to see my teaching methods please watch any video you like on YouTube. Although this is a new venture for me, I have the recent experience of teaching all the new and current examination specifications. Overall, I have been teaching mathematics for 15 years and have taught at some of the top performing private and state schools in Wales including: Cathedral School Llandaff, Bishop of Llandaff CIW School, Bassaleg School and Caerleon Comprehensive. I have also worked as mathematics adviser in South East Wales to support school improvement in mathematics. In that time I have taught students at all ages and levels of ability. I tutor GCSE Mathematics and Numeracy Higher and Intermediate, as well as AS Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and A2 Pure Mathematics.

Feedback Fridays are BACK. 🥳

It has been absolutely mental since A Level and GCSE result days - and this is just one of the lovely text messages Dave has received.

A Grade 7 (achieved in iGCSE, equivalent to an A grade in Wales) in Maths is a brilliant result, but this feedback is about so much more than the grade.

One of the biggest things we want our students to gain from their time with us is confidence in their own ability.

Going from not feeling confident in Maths to seeing it as one of this students best subjects is a huge change - and exactly what we hope our sessions can help with.

We’re excited to share our timetable for the upcoming academic year!

This has been our biggest scheduling challenge yet. With schools now sitting GCSE Maths units potentially across three different exam windows, instead of one final exam period. We’ve worked hard to build a timetable that gives every student the best possible support throughout the year.

If you’re thinking about tuition for September, please get in touch now. Our spaces fill quickly, and planning ahead gives you the best chance of securing a place that works for your schedule.
