Am I a magician now? 🪄
How did my shirts change colour throughout this video? Well… it's magic, I guess 😁😁

In reality, colour-change gemstones work in a surprisingly similar way. Certain gemstones absorb and transmit different wavelengths of light, causing them to appear different colours under different lighting conditions.

Nature, physics, and a little bit of gemstone magic 🎩 💎

Some feathers are harmless… others make gemmologists pause. 💎

Under the microscope, feathers can appear bright, transparent, or even blink as the diamond catches the light. Most are natural breaks formed deep within the crystal structure.

One of the many things I learnt while studying with Gemological Institute of America is that location matters. A deep feather near the edge or corner of a diamond can sometimes affect durability — not just clarity.

That’s why clarity grading is about more than simply spotting inclusions… it’s about understanding them.

Trigons on a rough diamond 😍… revealed under my new KRÜSS Trinocular Gem Microscope. 🔬💎

This microscope features a stepless 7x–45x zoom magnification, darkfield illumination, incident and transmitted light, plus a rotatable stone holder — perfect for exploring natural growth features inside diamonds and gemstones.

The amount of detail you can see is honestly fascinating 🔬

Excited to start filming more microscopic gemmology content with this setup ❤️

Not every diamond-looking stone is what it first appears to be… and this is why proper gemmological testing matters.

From loupe inspection and thermal testing, all the way through to UV fluorescence and advanced screening with the JTR Reveal 2S all this from my home Gemmology Lab 🔬💎
