🦖 Jurassic Creativity with Carter! 🦖

After our morning of guided reading magic, Carter’s imagination kept right on roaring! Inspired by the new Jurassic Park film he’s been fascinated with, he set himself a mission—to build a LEGO T-Rex completely on his own. Piece by piece, he worked with total focus until a mighty dino emerged! 🧱🦖

But he didn’t stop there… oh no. The garden soon became his very own dinosaur park. He gathered his big toy dinosaurs and carefully placed them in Mammy’s plant pots to create “special dinosaur enclosures” (I might never look at my begonias the same way again 😅).

It was such a joy to watch his creativity spill over from building to storytelling to set-design—all without a single prompt from me. Days like this remind me that learning doesn’t just happen at the table; it happens whenever a child’s curiosity and imagination are set free.

Here’s to more adventures, Carter—just maybe not in the plant pots next time! 😉💛

🌟 Guided Reading Success with Carter! 🌟

Today in our homeschool, we explored the brilliant Twinkl story “The Making of Milton” during our guided reading session. 📖 Carter, my curious 6-year-old, listened with such focus and enthusiasm—it was a real joy to watch his mind light up as the story unfolded.

We discussed the plot, characters, and emotions, and I was so proud of how Carter responded to the questions with maturity well beyond his years. I recorded his thoughtful answers, and it’s clear he’s developing not only comprehension skills but also a genuine love for storytelling. 💬💡

After our discussion, Carter got creative and produced a beautiful drawing inspired by a scene from the story, complete with his own caption! 🎨✍️ Moments like these remind me why I cherish home education so deeply—it gives children the space to express themselves fully and learn in ways that are meaningful to them.

Every day with Carter brings something new—whether it's his curiosity about words, his imaginative storytelling, or his growing independence during learning activities. Homeschooling allows us to celebrate progress over perfection, and today was a perfect example of that.

🌈We are enjoying Elmer Week at Responsible_learning this week and we are already in full swing and bursting with all the colours of the rainbow. Carter has done some caption writing, mask making, headbands, design your own Elmer and completed a handmade jigsaw of Elmer 🌈

.....during this time, Carter came up with such a beautiful idea relating to our topic earlier today, and wanted to share an idea he had with me. Carter asked if we could make more headbands and masks, decorate our clubhouse with handmade Elmer/Rainbow decorations and invite his friends in his community to come and have an Elmer day party. Face painting, make your own Elmer headband, face masks, mazes and read the story x
This is our project we are.going to focus on now as it's all Carter's idea and this needs to happen x
