CMA Primary Tutors I’m a UK-qualified primary school teacher with 10 years' experience teaching in both the UK and international schools.

CMA tutors is a small business run by me, Ceinwen Airdrie, a qualified and experienced Primary teacher from near Cardiff in South Wales. I have over 7 years’ experience teaching across KS1 and KS2 both in the UK and in top international schools in Spain and Poland. I am able to provide both 1:1 and small group classes to support students in their learning journey in English and maths. I am dedicated to building each pupil’s confidence and knowledge with personalised learning based on the student’s goals and individual learning needs. Children aged 5 to 11 can enter a story of 500 words or fewer, with creativity, character, plot and originality taking centre stage.

📹 My student absolutely loves the videos on Literacy Shed and also any excuse to get creative.

This term, we’ve been looking at features of newspapers 📰 so it was the perfect time to watch Pigeon Impossible 🕵️‍♂️

My student has finding it hard to organise the newspaper chronologically so we decided to turn the story into a graphic novel to help order the events.

She loved drawing the pictures and adding captions and onomatopoeia. 💥

We then went on to look at how to write catchy headlines and writing an introduction using the 5Ws.

One of my students has been struggling with factors so today we drew some factor bugs 🐞

🏫Today, one of my Year 6 students came to class completely confused after starting mean, median, mode and range at school.

😕 He was finding it particularly challenging to remember the difference between them.

We decided to use a few memory tricks to help us remember them. We used this rhyme and also created posters.

⭐Here's the rhyme:

Hey di**le di**le, the median's the middle,
You add and divide for the mean,
The mode is the one that you see the most,
And the range is the difference between.

🤔💡 What are some of the best ways to use AI in lessons?

There are understandably a lot of worries about AI in education — especially when it comes to students doing their own work and being creative.

But I also think it’s important to look at where AI can actually be useful.

One example is creative writing. Students can write their own stories and then use AI to create illustrations based on their descriptions of characters, settings and scenes. The ideas, imagination and storytelling still come from them — AI simply helps bring those ideas to life visually. ✍️🎨

Using AI gave my student the ability to create eye-catching images (he hates drawing) to turn his sci-fi story into a book he could share with others. It also encouraged the student to write vivid descriptions in his writing.

Like any tool, it’s about how we use it.
