This week, our Year 11 students have been so open and positive when talking about their next steps - whether that's college, apprenticeships, further education or exploring different career pathways.

We've been creating career maps with our students, helping them to see the different routes available and, most importantly, helping them to recognise that there isn't just one path to success.

We know that this time of year can bring worry, uncertainty and lots of questions for our young people. Thinking about what comes next can feel like a huge step, especially when they are not always sure what they want their future to look like.

This is why we are incredibly proud of our students for having those conversations, asking questions and exploring their options to build their future.

Week 3.....

For many of our young people, this is the point where tiredness catches up and those little worries and anxieties can begin to feel a little bigger.

What has been so lovely to see this week is the number of students who have felt able to talk to our mentors about how they are feeling and have a cuddle with our therapy dogs. Sometimes having someone to listen, without judgement, can make a difference.

We have seen students arrive feeling anxious, overwhelmed or exhausted BUT they have still made it through the door. That is something to be incredibly proud of!

The last few weeks have been incredible! Amongst several success we wanted to acknowledge a student who has struggled with everything, due to reasons beyond his control, and extreme OCD.

His school came to us, as nothing else has worked. Three weeks of FPT, and he is walking, sitting, laughing and joking, and writing!

To hear from their family that they are seeing life in their child again, was humbling to listen to.

FPT: where the apparently 'unsavable' learn to thrive.

‼️CALLING SCHOOL LEADERS ‼️

If you are a school leader and you have a child who is too nervous to walk through the school gates, this could be for you....

We can help you explore what a realistic next step could look like.

Full inclusion means every child is able to access education...not only those who can currently manage a full timetable, a busy corridor or a crowded classroom.

For school leaders, one child who is not attending can create a complex and urgent challenge. Behind the absence may be anxiety, unmet SEND needs, social difficulties, overwhelm, illness or a loss of trust in education. The question becomes: what needs to change so this child can begin to engage again?

That is where we can help.

We work alongside schools, families and professionals as a practical problem-solving partner. We help to create a carefully planned route back into education for young people who are finding school attendance difficult.

Our approach can include:

🤓Building a trusted relationship with the young person

🤫Providing a calm, supportive setting where they can re-engage at their own pace

👐Supporting social confidence, emotional regulation and resilience

🤗Creating achievable routines and small, meaningful attendance goals

👌Keeping schools and families involved throughout the process

💪Helping to plan a gradual, sustainable reintegration back into education

Progress does not always begin with a full day in school. Sometimes it begins with a visit, a conversation, meeting one trusted adult, or feeling safe enough to walk through the door.

A positive first week! You will see from the photo that our new puppy Therapy dog, is also finding her feet at work!

Now....to our young people...

Starting or returning to education can feel overwhelming, particularly for young people who are experiencing high levels of anxiety or who have been out of education for some time.

This week, we have been pleased to welcome students at their own pace. Some of our young people have not attended education for over a year, so simply arriving and spending time in the setting has been an important step.

Across the week, we have seen students:

😁Come into the building and begin to feel familiar with the space

👍Meet staff and start to build trusted relationships

🙌Take part in activities at a pace that feels manageable

😎Spend time alongside other young people in a calm, supported environment

😝Smile, relax and enjoy parts of their day

😁😁Tell us they feel able to return again next week

We know that progress is not always immediate or measured by full days, completed work or perfect attendance. For many young people, progress begins with feeling safe enough to try.

We are proud of every student who has taken a step forward this week, however small it may feel. We look forward to continuing to support each young person with patience, understanding and no pressure to move faster than they are ready for.

It's been a wonderful first week!

We have welcomed some new students and helped our current students get back into the swing of things. On Saturday, our two centres came together to complete our annual safeguarding training. It was wonderful to see some new faces too.

FPT opens doors for children who thought they were trapped, and seeing everybody's enthusiasm to start the next academic year only went to prove that this year will be no different

A huge thank you to our staff who gave up their Saturday to make sure they are trained on how to keep our children safe. 2026-27, here we come!

FPT is not only focused on ensuring that we work with the children who attend our centres, but that we also develop and work with our adults who want to achieve qualifications to work in SEND.

🎉Isabelle, one of our previous apprentices, has now moved into her first school, and will continue to move towards her QTS qualification.

🥳We have a current member of staff who is about to start her LSA SEND qualification.

🎊This year, we have taken on two new apprentices for their Level 3 LSA SEND qualification, who will begin their journey with us next week. Well done to all of the applicants!

‼️And....from next year, we will be offering a fully funded Youth Worker Degree Apprenticeship that leads to a BA (Hons). ‼️

👷🔨Our team are intermittently back in the office this week, preparing the classrooms and preparing new placements and current placements for our Southend and Canvey students.

❗️❗️For our current parents and students, if your child is particularly nervous about coming back to us, please make sure you contact either Emma or Jenny so we can put something in place to make them feel more comfortable. ❗️❗️
