We are a Little Wandle Champion School! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to announce that Sturry has officially been recognised as a Little Wandle Champion School - the first school in Kent to achieve this prestigious award and one of only around 30 schools across the entire country to hold this status.

To gain this recognition, our school successfully met all 16 Standards of Excellence in the teaching of early reading and phonics, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to ensuring every child becomes a confident and successful reader.

As a Champion School, we will now welcome visitors from other schools who will come to see Little Wandle in action, learn from our practice, and celebrate the fantastic work being carried out by our dedicated staff and wonderful children.

This achievement reflects the hard work, passion and collaboration of our entire school community.

The assessor praised our team, saying:
“It was a joy to see how hard you work to support your children and work together for the very best. Your reflectiveness and desire to keep on improving was very impressive and I know you will just keep on driving forward and enjoying the growth and challenge of all that being a Champion School will bring.”

This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our children and the support of our families. We are excited to be part of this inspiring network of Champion Schools and look forward to continuing to share, learn and grow as we strive for excellence in reading for every child.
