This time last week, Dr Hannan Azhar, Dr Soumya Manna and MSc Data Intelligence student, Greendly Guosadia, represented CCCU at the Health x AI Hackathon at Google’s headquarters in London! The team were selected from over 400 applications and brought together expertise in artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering and healthcare technologies. 💻🧬
During the hackathon, the team created HealthGuard, an AI-powered preventive care navigator designed to help users discover relevant preventive healthcare services, understand why those services may be appropriate, and take a clear next step. The team received positive feedback on the application, particularly its responsible AI approach, explainability, usability and technical implementation.
Greendly, MSc Data Intelligence student reflected on the event 💬:
“I feel incredibly lucky that our team was one of just twelve picked to take part in the Health x AI Hackathon, especially as the only MSc student in a room full of industry professionals and PhD researchers from places like Oxford, Cambridge and Warwick. I'm grateful to Dr Hannan Azhar and Dr Soumya Manna for the chance to work alongside them as lead developer on HealthGuard, it was a challenge, but I learnt so much from everyone there and I'm thankful for every minute of it.”
