We still have places available on two MSc routes at CCCU Psychology:

👉 MSc Applied Clinical Psychology

A great next step if you want to build advanced knowledge and practical skills in clinical psychology and mental health, and strengthen your CV for future training and employment.

Previous graduates have gone on to secure Assistant Psychologist roles and places on Doctorate training programmes in Clinical Psychology.

👉 MSc Forensic & Investigative Psychology

A great next step if you want to develop advanced knowledge and practical skills in forensic psychology, and build experience that supports future training and employment.

Previous graduates have gone on to roles including Assistant Psychologist, Trainee Forensic Psychologist, Probation Support Officer, Prison Offender Manager, Victim Support Worker, and Intervention Facilitator.

Teaching is concentrated across Thursdays and Fridays (full-time), so it can work well alongside part-time work.

CCCU graduates are eligible for the 20% alumni discount, and you can use the Postgraduate One Click Apply option to keep the application process straightforward.

Not a Psychology graduate? We also offer an MSc Psychology (Conversion) route for graduates from other subjects who want to convert to a BPS-accredited Psychology qualification (subject to meeting entry requirements).

Two of our lecturers just levelled up! 🎮 Emma Barrowcliffe and Kristina Massey are now accredited Hydra facilitators.

Hydra is an immersive simulation suite where you step into realistic scenarios and make decisions in real time, in a safe space. Only 8 universities in the UK have this cool equipment, and CCCU is one of them.

Emma and Kristina are already planning how to bring this into your learning on our courses. 👀

🌊👃 Research Spotlight: Medicine and the Senses

Dr Philip Ulrich, our Senior Lecturer in Psychology, recently presented at the 'Medicine and the Senses' workshop at the Thackray Museum of Medicine in Leeds. In collaboration with Professor Carolyn Oulton, Phil explored the beliefs and science behind the effects of sea air on the body, including the psychology and history of smell.

Phil described it as follows: “To be at a conference where so many shared my excitement for the sense of smell was a delight and one of my favourite ever conferences.”

Judging by the photos, it looks like the practicals were just as memorable as the research. 😄 A brilliant example of where psychology meets history and the senses.

🎤 Research Spotlight: Conference Talks 📚

Big shoutout to our PhD researcher Jo Law for presenting at the BPS Psychology of Women and Equalities Section Annual Conference 2026.

Jo presented two talks: One exploring discourses of working-class motherhood with and without ethnography, and the other on feminist ethics of care and the role of qualitative inquiry in a ketamine trial for chronic anorexia and severe depression (from Jo’s work as a qualitative researcher on the KCL-led EDEN trial).

We are so proud of you, Jo, and love seeing this this research being shared in such an important space!👏

A taster day with a twist. Earlier this year, we welcomed students from .simon.girls Grammar School for a Psychology Taster Day packed with a lab tour, a peek at our research tech (hello, eye tracker 👁️), a mock hostage negotiation, and a visit to our very own on-campus prison. We love showing prospective students what studying Psychology here really looks like - and it’s a lot more exciting than textbooks alone.
