Our second guest today was Hilary Rouse-Amadi, author of the poetry book Crossing Borders. We recorded a podcast which will soon be released for people interested in listening to it. This podcast was made as part of Black History Month, and enabled us to discuss a wide range of issues from Brexit and British politics, to otherness, humanity and black identity. In the video underneath she is reciting her poem « Identities in crisis ».

Today we welcomed 2 guests at the warehouse: the first one is Ariana, a five-year-old girl who will do some fundraising for Books2Africa during an entire year through the lecture of books everyday! She already knows how to read, and is familiar with Jane Austen and Maya Angelou, hence the consciousness she has of the importance of books in an education. This is why she decided to help us send books to people needing them!

Congratulations to the winner of our competition! She wrote an excellent paragraph explaining how books have contributed to her life. Here's a little extract from her answer:

'The power to see how the mind of another works or to inspire the greatness and genius of a person all lay within a book. Essentially books are a gateway to the unknown, the key to unlocking secrets of the past, present and the future.'

Thanks to those who participated! 😁
