What an Open Day we had! Campus was buzzing and we were blessed by glorious weather ☀️ …Spring, with all its new beginnings (and a lot of pollen) is a good moment to ask yourself how far you want your thinking and your VOICE to travel! We don’t teach you to order a baguette on holiday (important as that is 😬). At Kent you’ll read, question, translate, debate, and think across borders. You’ll become a multicultural communicator ready to step into the world, and to excel in anything you’ll do.
If you’ve spoken with us today, you’ll know how unique and exciting our degree is. And if you weren’t…take a look:

🎤 Meet Ru Su — our new Director of International (China and Asia)
We caught up with her to talk about learning Mandarin and the richness of Chinese culture.

🌏 What makes Mandarin at University of Kent special?
Ru Su:
Definitely our strong partnerships with universities in China. Since 2018, these collaborations have opened up fantastic opportunities for students to experience Chinese language and culture beyond the classroom.
Students can take part in exchanges and educational visits to China, which means they’re experiencing the culture first-hand. It really brings Mandarin learning to life. 🇨🇳

🏮 What do students find most fascinating about Chinese culture?
Ru Su:
Many students are amazed by the depth and history of Chinese culture. China has thousands of years of traditions in philosophy, literature and art, which makes it incredibly rich to explore. Not everyone is aware of that before they start learning the language.
At the same time, students are often fascinated by how tradition and modern life exist side by side in today’s China. That combination makes it a really exciting culture to learn about. ✨
