Last week, a group of Year 12 pupils visited the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) Hawkshead Campus for an immersive, hands-on look into the cutting edge of clinical science. The day was both an incredible learning experience and a massive triumph for our pupils, who left a lasting impression on the university faculty.
While some of the attending pupils are aiming for a career in veterinary medicine, many others in the group are aspiring future doctors and dentists. The visit perfectly highlighted how deeply connected human and animal medical sciences truly are.
The absolute highlight of the day was a presentation delivered by our pupils showcasing their Chemistry Pony Research Project, a rigorous scientific study they have been undertaking. Presenting university-level research to actual university faculty can be daunting, but our pupils handled it flawlessly.
The RVC hosting team was so impressed by the crossover of chemistry and clinical research that they reached out afterward with glowing praise:
"I was particularly impressed by the presentation they delivered, showcasing the research project they have undertaken. The work reflected a high standard of academic rigour, careful preparation, and a clear understanding of the subject matter. The pupils communicated their findings with confidence, clarity, and enthusiasm."
"From the moment they arrived, they conducted themselves with exceptional maturity, courtesy, and professionalism... They were a credit to themselves, their school, and their teachers."

Dr Moffat and Mrs Wells recently visited the Langton's link school, Dr Obote College in Uganda. While there they discussed the future of the 23 year link, met with current recipients of the Langton support and learning sponsorship, and learnt about the challenges facing the current community. It was exciting for them to also do some actual teaching!

Help us to fundraise and show your support for Miss Lopez – Bonilla who teaches Spanish at the school as she is taking on the Round Jersey Swim to raise money for the reopening of the swimming pool at The Langton.
The Round Jersey Swim is one of the most iconic and demanding open-water challenges in Europe a full circumnavigation of the island of Jersey, covering approximately 41 miles (66 km) depending on tides. It combines dramatic coastline, fast‑moving waters, and world‑class endurance swimming.
Ms Lopez says: “This swim is more than a physical feat — it’s a test of resilience, strategy, and mental strength. Having completed the swim in 2004, and having been weathered out on three occasions, I know how challenging and variable conditions can be. I will be attempting a second circumnavigation of the island to raise money for the reopening of our community pool at The Langton”.
