Kent College Music Department

Kent College Music Department Concerts, Shows, Success in national competitions, Performances in major venues, Tours abroad are just a flavour of the range of music enjoyed by KC pupils

Our splendid music department offers a broad range of opportunity. Our aim is for music to be fun and productive, ensuring that pupils can progress to the best of their ability. We are fully committed to both the enjoyment of music and promoting the highest standards. Many pupils learn a musical instrument, perform in our choirs or instrumental ensembles, study music or music technology at GCSE and A-level and take part in our many musical events or tours abroad. Pupils who enjoy performing at any level are most welcome to get involved in the dynamic and exciting programme of music making at Kent College and anyone may attend our busy programme of concerts. You will be most welcome.

It was a complete honour to provide music for German Unity Day Celebrations in the presence of German Ambassador, Her Excellency Susanne Baumann, at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge. Our senior String Quartet entertained guests beautifully on arrival, whilst Sedecim led the singing of the German, English and European national anthems. Well done to everyone involved during such a busy week.Kent College Canterbury

The Music Department hosted a fabulous singing masterclass given by opera singer, Julian Hubbard after school today. We all learnt so much from Julian’s expertise as our talented year 13 pupils took to the stage. Superb singing from Wolfgang, Poppy, Thomas and Khema as they explored new ideas in their performances in front of a supportive audience of fellow students and parents. Kent College Canterbury

We are very proud that six Kent College students are now choristers in Canterbury Cathedral’s prestigious choir. On Sunday afternoon Annabelle and Lincoln (year 8 ) sang their first Evensong, joining Dorothy, Rosie (year 10) and Martha (year 11), whilst Poppy (year 13) was admitted as a ‘Senior Chorister’. Each week the girls sing 3 full choral services in the cathedral as well as performing on major occasions, broadcasts and commercial recordings.

The school year ended with some brilliant music on Speech Day. Following some lovely flute playing in the GH foyer, the full congregation were then treated to the energetic sound of KC Rock Band on the stage. During the ceremony, it was a complete privilege to hear ‘You’re the top’ from Anything Goes performed by the talented Electra and Cameron. Afterwards, guests headed outside to the sound of our wonderful senior string quartet, before Sedecim rounded off the proceedings with a lovely programme of choral music over lunch.
