As we reflect on the 2024 academic year. We want to share the exciting news that LASAR will be crossing the border to Swansea University! We are really excited about the opportunities this will provide and hope that we'll still be able to work with many of you as we explore the opportunities for EI within the Welsh aims based curriculum as well as continuing to bridge disciplinary boundaries across the UK.
We hope many of you will continue to work with LASAR associates remaining at CCCU as it implements an exciting new interdisciplinary framework within Higher Education, and through its outreach work with schools and colleges that is grounded in EI pedagogy.

For those of you who have enjoyed our events and CPD in recent years, there are two exciting opportunities at Canterbury Christ Church University this year for some interdisciplinary fun!
Firstly for Sixth form Students (on Campus) and KS4&5 students online there is our Pioneers Lecture Series:
The series provides ambitious students with an immersive experience of a University lecture, challenging students to think about the bigger picture, see their potential and ability to push boundaries to advance a cause or idea. Topics bridge several disciplines that showcase our academic expertise and research specialisms to prompt students to deepen their understanding of a particular issue/topic.
These hybrid lectures are being run on the Canterbury campus and live-streamed. All sessions will run 3:00pm - 4:15pm. The schedule for the Pioneers Lecture series 2024 is below. We are particularly keen to encourage local schools to attend on campus.
Tuesday 23rd January - “We won’t publish this book as a favor to you.”: Censorship and Conformity in literature and beyond: Themes of tragedy, doomed affairs, censorship, Cold War conformity, racial inequalities, and fears about sexuality emerge in this engaging lecture concerning James Baldwin’s novel, Giovanni’s Room
Wednesday 6th March - From bones to landscapes - how has humanity changed the world?: In this interactive session students will examine how archaeology investigates the monumental to the miniscule, from ancient DNA to landscape transformation.
Wednesday 8th May - Revolutionary Visuals: Join leading academics to explore how design choices affect how we communicate our politics, and how our politics affects how we make design choices.
Tuesday 18th June - A better friend, a better cheater or a better tutor? Generative AI and the Law: Consider how developments in generative AI interact with legal and ethical questions and why AI poses some unique challenges that are not seen with other technologies.
On campus - Key Stage 5/ Level 2 and 3 students for on-campus attendance. Maximum group size is 30 plus accompanying staff. Mini-bus parking is available on campus. Booking early is recommended.
Online - Key Stage 4/ Level 2 and 3 students for the live stream option. Students can individually sign up for this option. Online participants will receive resources for all the interactive elements ahead of time so they can fully participate.
Subjects - Students studying a range of subjects are welcome. An interest in the topic area for the lecture is key!
