Made a 360 mile drive back from Alamosa, Colorado to Sanders, Arizona yesterday without incident. Back to stargazing straight away. Managed a reasonable shot of the Full Moon at 2am.

Got up at 1.15am to image M42, Orion Nebula. 2.5 hrs of images, 640 of them, 15 seconds each. The longest I've done so far. These smart telescopes are addictive. They may signal the end to small observatories. The satellite that 'got through' may have been a Geo-stationary satellite. It would appear as a single star on each image, but when stacked, produced a trail. M42 is virtually on the equatorial plane, so it would make sense. We have been in Arizona for almost 3 weeks, off to Colorado to see another friend for a few days, then back here.

Had a second go at the Trifid Nebula last night from Sanders, Arizona. 600 frames this time / 15 seconds each / 60 gain / EQ mode on the Dwarf 3 telescope. Our parcel of land doubles up as a wildlife sanctuary and an astronomical observing site. It's at 6000ft and is 54 miles from the nearest main town.

Open star cluster M7 in Sagittarius by my Dwarf 3. 100 x 15 second stacked images. This telescope is easy to get hooked on, especially under the dark skies of Arizona. Finding it hard to find the time to sleep. I will have to learn how to use the schedule facility.

I know many people love to sit on a beach with a cocktail and stay in expensive hotels. This is our kind of trip... left the car and wallet behind, walked out into the desert for a few hours, pretended to do some geology and even saw a Gopher snake on our doorstep to round off the day.
