The final weekly Head's Lunch of the year saw a group of Shells (Year 9) gather for burgers, chips and conversation, exploring the proposed ban on social media for under-16s.
Pupils shared a wide range of views, raising questions about how a ban could be implemented, the responsibilities of social media companies, and the impact on the everyday interactions that help sustain friendships. They also reflected on the harms they have witnessed first-hand, including addictive app design and inadequate content filtering.
The conversation highlighted the importance of ensuring that any changes are accompanied by broader discussions about supporting young people's wellbeing, creating opportunities for meaningful in-person connection, and preparing the next generation for an increasingly technological world.
Our Giving Day is just 10 days away – here’s a quick message from one of our CCF cadets, Pani (6a).
Thanks to the generosity of the King’s community, we have already achieved one of our early donation targets. As a result, Giving Day has a fantastic head start before it officially begins on 25 June!

This week, we were delighted to welcome representatives from the charity Classrooms In The Clouds to King's.
They visited to thank School House and Harvey House for their incredible fundraising efforts, raising an outstanding £2,170 through a sea swim in support of the charity's work.
We were especially pleased to hear from Dawa, a Sherpa from Nepal whose story inspired the creation of the charity. Dawa presented a certificate to mark the achievement and delivered a fascinating talk to our Shells who volunteer with Classrooms in the Clouds each Wednesday afternoon.
A huge congratulations to everyone involved for supporting such an important cause and helping to make a difference to young people's education in Nepal.
Minilympics 2026 was a fantastic success! We welcomed over 150 enthusiastic primary school pupils for a day packed with sport, teamwork and fun. Activities included football, lacrosse, cricket and athletics, alongside an inspiring talk from two local Olympic medallists.
