For the first time, we have published an e'petition on the Parliament website. As many of you know, a lot of our work involves civil disputes involving a family pet and we have found over the years that Courts often regard the pet as just another kind of possession, which has a limited open market value and where the case can take months (+ in some cases years) to get finalised at Court.
So we are bringing this to the attention of Parliament in the linked petition which aims to bring about change. If we can get at least 10,000 signatures then the Government will be required to give a response to the proposals we are making.
If you want to help, please circulate this widely!

Petition: Distinguish pets from other types of property in civil and family proceedings
We want legislation to: 1. Make a pet's welfare the paramount consideration when Courts resolve disputes over their ownership and possession. 2. Recognise a pet's true value as being the value to its owner, not just its open market price. 3. Require Court cases regarding pets to be expedited.
