Introducing the 2019 Kent Q-Step Summer School!

The Q-Step Summer School is a two-week residential course providing an introduction to quantitative methods for the social sciences. This year’s topic is Race and Ethnicity.

It is open to first year students in SSPSSR, POLIR and KLS and is a pre-requisite for any student wishing to transfer to a “with Quantitative Research” minor degree, such as BA (Hons) Sociology with Quantitative Research and LLB ( Hons) Law with Quantitative Research.

It is a fun and challenging course and will boost your employability. You will be working intensively alongside other students from a range of disciplines to complete a real piece of social scientific research.

The course will run for two weeks from Monday 17 June to Friday 28 June 2019.

We have the next of our 2019 pubTALKs on Monday 11th March, 7 for 7.30 pm at the Old Buttermarket. Do come and share a drink and a few questions! Topic this month is 'Secular Muslim Women’s Activism in the Age of ISIS' and is given by University of Kent associate lecturer, Hind Elhinnawy. It promises to be a fascinating event!

We have the first Kent Q-Step pubTALK of 2019 on Monday 11th February at the Old Buttermarket, Canterbury, 7pm for a 7.30pm start. We unfortunately have to cancel next Monday's pubTALK due to unforeseen circumstances.

The next pubTALK - 'Thumbs up! The evolution of our hands' will be given by Dr Tracy Kivell on Monday 5th February - hope to see you there!

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has attended, supported and spoken at our pubTALKs - it has been a great opportunity to showcase the University's research and has been fantastic to meet and chat with you all!
