πŸŽπŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ An accredited course from ADL is a Father's Day gift that stands out because it offers something far more lasting than the usual presents. Rather than a gift that's enjoyed for a day or two, it's an investment in your father's personal growth, interests, and future. πŸŽ–οΈπŸ“œ

What makes it unique is that you're not just giving a course; you're giving an experience, new knowledge, and the opportunity to develop skills that can be enjoyed for years to come. Whether it's beekeeping, gardening, business, or another subject he loves, the course becomes a journey of discovery and achievement.

Some popular categories might be:

🎁 Gardening/Horticulture (especially if he enjoys the outdoors)
🎁 Beekeeping
🎁 Bookkeeping or Small Business
🎁 Animal/Wildlife
🎁 Psychology or Counselling
🎁 Nutrition and Healthy Living

Need some help in chosing the right course? Tell us a bit about your father's interests (gardening, DIY, business, animals, technology, health, etc.), and we'll suggest specific ADL courses that would make a great Father's Day gift. πŸŒŸπŸ“šπŸŽ

🍎πŸ₯¦πŸ₯— Patrick Williams – What a Journey! πŸ‘©πŸ»β€βš•οΈπŸ₯—πŸŒΎ

πŸ₯¦ A Chef Extraordinaire!

🍎 Patrick, is currently enrolled on an ADL self-designed Advanced Diploma in Food and Nutrition. The modules he chose: Food & Beverage Management, Food Preparation, Food Processing & Technology, Human Nutrition I & II, Personal Fitness and Sports Nutrition.

🍏 While holidaying at an all-inclusive hotel in Egypt, Patrick was welcomed into their kitchen to observe and show them how to cook a Jamaican dish. Word spread amongst the staff confirming his culinary skills were exceptional. The next day he was invited by the owner of the hotel to enjoy a day out on the owners boat and to cook for them. What an extraordinary day it was for him.

πŸ₯— Patrick said, β€œI have attached my certificate and some photos from the Ala Baba Hotel/Resort, in Egypt. I spent my summer vacation learning the internal operation of a seven restaurant Hotel resort. They accommodate approximately 2000 resident guests and also have a 14 day rotating international country cookout each night.

πŸ₯• I also taught them a few Jamaican dishes, and it’s expected that at least one will be incorporated into their existing menus. I also had a great opportunity of preparing a Jamaican outlay of Jerk Chicken, Jerk Chicken Wings, Rice and Peas with a few dip sauces for the owner and his family on their boat.”

🍊 A quick update from Patrick...

πŸ₯— β€œI’m in Egypt as I told you, and by God’s grace things are working great. The head Chief and the Owner of the hotel/ resorts has given me full access to all seven restaurants on the property. I’m learning the complete cycle, how the meals are planned, how they are prepped, cooked and then served. They have over 2000 guest from all over the world and the four different culinary restaurants, plus a 14 day schedule to cater to different countries. One of the greatest things is I’m teaching them how to cook two Jamaican dishes and one that’s definitely going to be part of their offers."

πŸ₯¦ Patrick, congratulations on your achievement. It just shows what can be done with persistence and working towards a goal. You picked up the ball and ran with it. You are an inspiration to us all.

🌊🐟 One of the most rewarding things about education is seeing where it can lead our students. πŸ¦€πŸ¬

πŸ‹ After completing a Marine Sciences module with ADL, one of our students was so inspired that she decided to explore the fascinating world of marine research and conservation first-hand in Gansbaai, South Africa.

πŸ’™ The postcard was sent to Cara, ADL's Senior Administrator, sharing how the course sparked such a deep interest in marine life and inspired this incredible adventure.

🐠 From spotting whales and dolphins to observing seals, seabirds and a variety of marine life in their natural habitat, the experience brought classroom learning to life in an unforgettable way.

🌊 Stories like these remind us that learning isn't just about gaining knowledge; it's about opening doors to new experiences, new passions and new opportunities.

πŸͺΈ We're proud to be part of our students' journeys and can't wait to see where their learning takes them next.

🦁 Here is the long awaited reunion when conservationist David Youldon catches up with 17-month-old lions Jabari and Jelani!

🦁 After seven months apart, wildlife conservationist David is reunited with two lionesses he helped raise from tiny cubs. Now 17 months old and much larger than when he last saw them, the lions' reaction to seeing their former caretaker is both emotional and unforgettable. This episode follows David as he returns to the reserve to reconnect with the young lions, observe their progress, and witness the remarkable bond that still exists between humans and the animals they have nurtured. A touching story of trust, conservation, and the enduring connection between people and wildlife.

🦁 When David Youldon first enrolled on an ADL Wildlife Management programme, he wasn't simply looking for another qualification. He was pursuing a passion that would eventually lead him to become Chief Operating Officer of Africa Needs Lions, an organisation dedicated to the protection and conservation of African lions. The rest is history.

πŸ’πŸŒ„ Karin Saks - "The Baboon Woman" β˜€οΈπŸ’

Karin Saks’ journey into the world of baboons began in 1997. Since then, she has been involved in the fostering and rehabilitation of orphan baboons, the caring of injured monkeys who have been returned to the wild and has worked towards a harmonious co-existence between these primates and humans.

Karin first dedicated her life to studying primates, she wasn’t simply pursuing an interest in monkeys and baboons. When Karin Saks enrolled on an ADL programme, she was determined to deepen her understanding of wildlife management, animal behaviour and conservation principles.

The turning point was Karin being introducing to her very first orphaned baby baboon back into the wild. She was accepted as surrogate mother into the troop and came as close as possible to understanding how it feels to be a mother baboon. As there were no humans to rely on for guidance, her only choice was to follow the lead of the baboons to ensure her adopted baby baboon would have a secure, safe future. She learnt their language and acted on their direction. As a result of the incredible communication between the baboons and her, the rehabilitation was successful. This experience was deeply profound and became the turning point in her life.

We're deeply saddened by the loss of Matthew Biggs VHM, the much-loved gardener and broadcaster who devoted more than half a century to sharing his passion for plants.

Across five decades, Matthew helped define public understanding of horticulture in the UK, bridging the worlds of professional practice, gardening history and everyday experience with rare generosity and warmth.

Best known to millions as a long‑serving panellist on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time, Matthew, a trained plantsman, natural teacher, and meticulous historian of horticulture, has also been a powerful advocate for gardens as places of refuge and healing.

In December 2020 he was diagnosed with bowel cancer and spoke openly about the experience and the role that gardening played in sustaining him through treatment. While receiving treatment at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Hertfordshire, he led a major project to transform the hospital’s outdoor spaces into a genuine healing garden.

His career was crowned with the award of the Victoria Medal of Honour in May 2026. Limited to 63 living recipients at any one time, the VMH is reserved for gardeners who have made an exceptional and lasting impact on the practice, promotion or understanding of gardening.

Our thoughts are with Matthew's family and with everyone who knew and loved him.
