Our beautiful Advent Spiral!

On Friday we celebrated the beginning of Advent with our Advent Spiral.

Evergreen, holly, bay, rosemary and eucalyptus boughs were placed in a spiral form with a large candle at its centre. The mood was peaceful and music filled the air.

One at a time each child walked into the spiral with a red apple within which sat an unlit candle. The apples represent the seeds of each child's hidden potential lying patiently in darkness until the time comes to sprout.… the seed of the adults they will become.

At the centre of our spiral, our Angel (normally one of the oldest children in the school) lit each child's candle, after which each child placed their candle with care somewhere along the spiral’s path. Each child walks alone, at his or her own pace, in his or her own way. Gradually the whole garden glows more and more strongly and a mood of deep reverence is created.

It is very special to watch a young child wend their way through the spiral’s path and find the universal light that they then take back to give to the world.

The experience of the Advent spiral reflects the human experience at this time of the year; entering a time of darkness, of shorter days and longer nights and going forward with hope to welcome the light of the sun after the winter solstice, embracing the possibilities of the new year.

TIP: be quick to get a slot by the fire for your wreath making workshop as this is very popular! The workshops run throughout the day but get full up pretty quickly!

ADVENT FAIR | THIS SUNDAY 11am -4pm

Candle dipping is one of the most loved activities at our Advent Fair. People of all ages enjoy the magic of entering a darkened room, lit by the twinkle of fairylights and filled with the aroma of melted beeswax. With soft music in the background people walk slowly around a central table dipping their candle into the melted wax. This is an activity that stays in your heart and memory for ever…

ADVENT FAIR | THIS SUNDAY (26th Nov) 11am - 4pm

The last preparations are well underway for tomorrow including testing our ovens to make sure everything is just perfect for our famous pizzas!

We want to say the very biggest thank you to Grain and Hearth Bakery for donating the all scrumptious dough made up into balls and ready to go!

We tested it last night and can testify that it is truly delicious!

If you want a pizza at our fair order early as they run out fast!

Advent Strings, Acorn Necklaces and many more beautiful crafts are having their final touches before our Advent Fair on Sunday!
