Vanessa Bates is an exceptional teacher who has dedicated her life to education and transforming the lives of her students. With a passion for inspiring positive change, Vanessa creates an inclusive and supportive learning environment, removing barriers to learning for young people with diverse needs. Her expertise in special education and experience working with youth offenders in the United States have equipped her with valuable skills that she brings to her current role at Tuition Extra, positively impacting the lives of young people in Kent.
Vanessa's calming attitude and demand-free style have empowered her autistic students to unmask and be their true selves. She goes above and beyond to support her students, even balancing her busy home life and caregiving responsibilities. Vanessa's commitment extends beyond the classroom, providing training and resources for tutors to support young people with Adverse Childhood Experiences.
Vanessa's dedication, unwavering support, and transformative approach have made her an exceptional teacher and deserving of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

🥳 We're thrilled to share some amazing news about Nayelli! She has been shortlisted for the ‘Canterbury Christchurch Alumni Awards in the Community Hero’ category. It is a huge honour and a well-deserved recognition for all her incredible hard work in supporting our staff and our young people.
As Director and Head of Service at Tuition Extra, Nayelli does an incredible job leading our team. Thanks to her management skills, we have been able to grow and improve in so many ways. We now have a fantastic therapeutic team; an incredible fleet service; and we are registered as a JCQ exams centre.
Nayelli is a real champion for the team members and has encouraged the investment in training and CPD for our staff. This is just one of the ways she shows how much she cares about everyone who works within her team.
Her input to the team and the service has led to Tuition Extra winning many awards, including the Kent Business Awards, and being nominated for the National Diversity Award.
We are so proud of Nayelli and all she that she has accomplished. She is an inspiration to everyone at Tuition Extra, and we congratulate her on this amazing achievement and wish her the best of luck as she competes for the title of Community Hero.

Meet Ajith! 💻Ajith is an exceptional computer science and maths tutor, empowering young people throughout Canterbury to access high-level content and interpret complex data. With a decade of industry experience in technology, and software engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, Ajith is a well-accomplished tutor, fostering a nurturing and empathic learning environment. Ajith's advanced technical skills allow him to teach at the highest levels, breaking down even the most complicated instructions into manageable, bite-sized chunks. His passion for teaching and love for technical conversations make for engaging lessons that inspire students to grow their technical skill set and create complex digital setups.
As a fantastic team member, Ajith has consistently demonstrated full dedication to his work and proven himself to be a collaborative and reliable team player. Challenges are no match for Ajith, who rises to any occasion with skill and precision. With Ajith as their tutor, any process-driven young person can flourish and achieve their full potential.

💥 Are you on the hunt for an amazing English as a Foreign Language (EAFL) teacher who has more than 25 years of experience? Meet Vanessa! She is not only an exceptional EAFL tutor, but she is also a pro at teaching a range of subjects, including Japanese. Vanessa is one of those rare teachers who can adapt to any situation and has taught in many parts of the world, including Thailand and Austria. She has even published EFL resources, DVDs, and books. With her kind-hearted personality and her ability to understand every student's unique learning style and needs, Vanessa ensures that all her students receive the support they need. This year, she has helped many young people achieve their goals of obtaining Functional Skills qualifications. We feel so lucky to have such an amazing and empathetic teacher on our team.

It's Today, we'd like to celebrate Shelley!

We consider ourselves fortunate to have the delightful Shelley as part of our team. Not only is she a talented tutor with a QTS certification and a BA (Hons) in Music, but she is also pursuing a Level 3 Forest School leader qualification that will prove useful when our Forest School opens in September. Shelley's warm and friendly demeanour is a common sight around our Roper Yard office, where she teaches a range of subjects, from English and Maths to singing lessons and Art. Additionally, Shelley operates her own African drumming workshops through her company, DJEMBEJAM. At Tuition Extra, we share Shelley's dedication to aiding students in their academic, social, and emotional growth, making her a perfect embodiment of our ethos. Thank you Shelley for your wonderful contribution to TE!

It's 🎉 Today, we'd like to celebrate Laura!

Laura has worked with Tuition Extra over the last year, teaching Maths to our lovely pupils. Her friendly nature has made her one of our sought-after tutors.

Currently, Laura is finishing her Masters in Applied Actuarial Science and has had vast experience working in corporate environments.

All of her students praise Laura's lessons and look forward to her sessions, which she leads with great enthusiasm, empathy, and impressive preparation.

When not busy studying for her Masters or working for us, Laura loves to cook, go to the arcade, watch inspirational movies, and listen to music. I wonder which is the most inspirational film she has seen?

🎓 Meet Lauren, the exceptional tutor with a wealth of experience teaching children and young people of all ages, from 4 to 18 🌟

With a BA in both Education and Science, Lauren has a wide range of skills and knowledge, including experience as a secondary school teacher delivering GCSE English Literature & Language and A-Level Psychology 📚

Lauren is confident teaching English, Child Care, Psychology, Health & Social, and enjoys teaching Primary. But her passion for children's education goes beyond just subject matter. "I am passionate about children's education; and believe a warm, energetic, empathic approach is the best way to help our young people flourish. I look forward to meeting you," she says.

When she's not teaching, Lauren enjoys mountain biking 🚵‍♀️, yoga 🧘, and spending time at the beach with her lovely children aged 15 and 16 years 🌊. With her warm and energetic approach to teaching, Lauren is the perfect tutor for any child looking to achieve their full potential. Join us in welcoming Lauren to our Tuition Extra team! 🎉

We know the importance of training for teachers and students on neurodiversity and how this plays a part in creating a more welcoming environment and making a difference in the lives of autistic people. Our SEN team works closely with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a collaborative and effective approach, supporting children and young people with a range of needs, including ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and sensory processing needs. 🤝💼
