This academic year sees the creation of the Old Edmundian Theatre Group, spearheaded by St Edmund’s experienced drama teacher Robert McCrea, and we’re hoping that this new initiative, created for the alumni community who love drama, will be a huge success!

Robert is a British actor, director, producer, educator and senior executive whose 35 year career spans professional theatre, television, film, education, criminal justice and the charitable sector.

He trained in Drama at Bretton Hall College, and following his training, established a diverse international career as an actor and director while simultaneously developing a distinguished record in public service and educational leadership.

The Old Edmundian Theatre Group will perform one high quality production per year in a professional theatre, such as the Marlowe Studio or the Gulbenkian, in order to reach a wider community, and this is the perfect opportunity for those who love to perform to join us and meet old and new alumni, have fun, and hone your performance skills!

Our theatre group will start during the Lent Term, and rehearsals will take part every Wednesday from 7 to 9pm, starting January 2027.

Membership costs £60 for the term, and all Edmundians are welcome!

Join this great opportunity to build confidence, explore techniques, and grow as a performer, taking part in what is sure to be a fun and inspiring way to spend 2 hours a week!

Did you know St Edmund’s hosts a weekly ‘Curiosity Shop’? It’s a series of short, engaging lunchtime talks designed to spark big ideas, introduce new career paths, and inspire our Senior School pupils. 💡

We’ve loved welcoming incredible guest speakers to the library, including alumni like Charlie Roe (’10), Lead Systems Engineer at Airbus, and Pete Terry (’63), retired airline pilot, who shared their inspiring journeys in aerospace! 🚀

Now, we’re planning our 2026/27 programme and would love to hear from YOU.

Whether you want to share insights on your career, a passion project, or a life lesson that could guide the next generation, our students would love to learn from your story.

Sean Thompson organised a 40th anniversary school reunion.
