Tinnisburn Plants

Tinnisburn Plants An RHS Gold Medal winning nursery specialising in truly hardy perennials. Buy from us online. Our passion is for the plants that the big garden centres ignore.

Much of what we grow are older varieties or are more difficult to propagate. We give them the love and attention they deserve, meaning you can have something a little out of the ordinary blooming in your garden.

In 2023 I had the privilege of being part of a group who spent 3 weeks trekking in Nepal and was struck by its beauty, how warm and welcoming the Nepali people were and how poor the country was. The news of the glacier collapse and subsequent flood has been heart-breaking, especially as I know people from the affected area.

The 2023 trek was organised by Sunil and our guides were Dorche; Sunil's father, Renzen; his aunt and Lokendra; his school friend.
Lokendra is alive - but he was leading a group through that valley and over the Tibetan border just one day before the disaster. Dorche and Renzen are safe in Kathmandu but they were the lucky ones.

Sunil's village was badly damaged by the 2015 earthquake and was rebuilt only to be entirely swept away by the flood, along with 165+ villagers; all relatives and friends of Sunil. It is hard to imagine how to come to terms with this.....

David & Stella Rankin, who led the 2023 trek have started a JustGiving page and would welcome any donations, large or small. Everything given goes directly to relief work to help people like Sunil, Dorche, Renzen and Lokendra.

Iʼm raising money to support an emergency in Nepal. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

Doing a ‘pop-up’ at Woodside Plant Centre always feels more like a day off as there are so many lovely plants to enjoy in the walled garden, both planted out in the garden and in the plant sales area. This time of year I have Kniphofia envy; the huge plant by the tearoom is in full bloom and looking fabulous!

This Sat & Sun 10am-4pm will be your last chance to visit this year. We still have half price trees, shrubs and perennials plus a great offer on hardy succulents
