Year 7 Outdoor Adventure- Celebrating Success

On Friday 16th October, our Year 7 students will be participating in two extra-curricular sessions, led by external visitors, to reward their great start to life at Cardinal Griffin.

Cardinal Griffin teachers will supervise and support the activities being held on the school field during periods 3 and 4 which will be hosted by 'Little Sprouts Forest School' who provided some incredible experiences for the students during our Summer School. Tomorrow, they will have a brilliant team building experience where they will be involved in Den Building and Problem Solving.

Could we ask Year 7 parents to support with:
- All pupils bringing their PE kit to school so they can change into their kit at the start of period 3. We would advise that pupils bring with them a coat or extra layers, base layers and/or jumpers and trousers.

If there are any queries, please email Mr Harris on [email protected]

📱 Parents: Please Stay Involved in Your Child's Online World 🌍

Social media is a huge part of many young people's lives. It can help them stay connected with friends, learn new skills and express themselves. However, it can also expose them to risks such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content, online grooming, harmful challenges, and pressure to present a perfect image of themselves.
As parents and carers, one of the most important things you can do is take an active interest in your child's online activity.

Try to:
✅ Have regular, open conversations about what they are doing online
✅ Know which apps and platforms they are using
✅ Check privacy settings together
✅ Encourage them to think carefully before sharing personal information
✅ Remind them to speak to a trusted adult if something online makes them feel worried, upset or uncomfortable
✅ Set healthy boundaries around screen time and device use

Remember, monitoring social media is not about invading privacy. It is about helping children stay safe, make positive choices, and develop healthy digital habits.

The most effective safeguarding tool is a strong relationship where your child feels comfortable talking to you about their online experiences.
Together, we can help our young people enjoy the benefits of technology while staying safe online. 💙

World Mental Health Day takes place every year on 10 October. It reminds us why good mental health is so important, and how we can prioritise it in our lives and communities. It’s also a moment to talk openly and listen to what others are experiencing.

The theme for 2026 is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change” (World Federation for Mental Health). Conversations about mental health make a difference. And they matter most when we listen to people’s experiences.

All through next week, at Cardinal Griffin, our 6th Form students will be leading activities to raise awareness of mental health and the importance of talking and learning how to navigate life in secondary school from those who have been through what they are going through.

Whether this is our Year 7 students just beginning their journey, the Year 9s having to make their GCSE choices, the Year 11's getting ready to sit their GCSEs and also making decisions about their post-16 journey.

There are days when all of us struggle with how we are feeling. Things can get tough, and it can be difficult knowing how to cope. For so many young people, when this happens, they don’t always get the help they need, when they need it. They don’t know where to turn, who to talk to, or even if anyone else feels the same. We are hoping, that by taking part in both of these charities we will.

Wonderful Well-Being Ambassadors

A sociable and reassuring hum resonates over Cardinal Griffin's sixth form centre this week as the initial mentoring meetings have taken place between the Well-being Ambassadors and their Year 7 mentees.

Well-being Ambassadors in Year 12 and 13 have loved being a 'safe space' for Year 7 as they assist them in their transition into High School and the wider world in general. Truly showing that they are men and women for others and easing what can sometimes be an uncertain transition.

Led by two Year 13 students who have previously trained with the Mental Health Support Team - introductions have been made and initial meetings have happened, creating what will hopefully be a school life bond and support. More training is planned to be delivered with the MHST moving forwards.

Year 12 and 13 Well-being Ambassadors are paired with a younger student, with a focus on Year 7, to meet weekly and check in: assisting with anxiety, hopes, problems in school and homework - as well as any other concern that they can assist with. They are overseen by Mrs Archer and generously accommodated by Mrs Hamilton in the sixth form centre - introducing our very newest members of the family to our welcoming sixth form.

The sixth form gain welcome experience and the ability to return some of the love and support they have received over the years and the younger students hopefully gain a sense of belonging and the kudos of being able to say hello to our eldest role models. A mutually beneficial relationship and so very heart warming to witness.

We are so proud of our Well-being Ambassadors!

What a fantastic day of sport and fellowship as our feeder primary schools came together for an incredible Football and Netball Tournament! 🏆⚽🏐

Congratulations to St Joseph's Catholic Primary, Rugeley, who were crowned Football Champions, and to St Mary's Catholic Primary, Cannock, who took home the Netball title after a series of excellent performances throughout the competition.

The overall standings reflected a wonderfully competitive and closely contested event, with every school demonstrating outstanding teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship. We were delighted to welcome pupils from St Joseph's Rugeley, St Thomas More Great Wyrley, St Joseph's Hednesford, St Joseph's & St Theresa's Burntwood, and St Mary's Cannock.

Most importantly, every student represented their school with pride and distinction. Their behaviour, effort and attitudes were exemplary throughout the day, embodying the values that make our Catholic community so special.

A huge thank you to all staff, organisers and supporters who made the event such a success. We now look forward to the next sporting challenge, the Tag Rugby Tournament, taking place in two weeks' time!

Thank you Cardinal Griffin!

This week so far has been a wonderful example of what makes Cardinal Griffin such a special community. We would like to thank all of our staff and students for the incredible way they have embraced our culture of learning and faith, demonstrating kindness, respect, ambition and pride in everything they do.

Our students have truly presented the very best of Cardinal Griffin, showing outstanding conduct in lessons, around the school and within our wider community. Their commitment to learning, their support for one another and the way they live out our Catholic values each day continues to make us immensely proud.

A particular highlight of the week was the beautiful Class Mass celebrated by Father Linh with 9C1. It was a joyous and prayerful celebration of our Catholic life, bringing our school community together in faith and reminding us of the importance of keeping Christ at the centre of all that we do.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to such a positive and uplifting start to the week. Together, we continue to shine brightly as a community of faith, learning and service.
