Is your little one starting Nursery or School this September?

🌿✨ Coming Soon to Gorsemoor! Community Forest School Sessions! ✨🌿

We are so excited to share that, this autumn, we will be launching our Community Forest School Sessions!

Forest School is a child-centred approach to learning that takes place outdoors, giving children the opportunity to explore, investigate, create and take managed risks in a natural environment. Through hands-on experiences, children develop confidence, resilience, independence and a lifelong love of the outdoors.

🌱 Forest School can help children to:
🍃 Build confidence and self-esteem.
🪵 Develop communication and teamwork skills.
🐞 Encourage curiosity, creativity and problem-solving.
🌳 Improve physical development and coordination.
💚 Support emotional wellbeing and resilience.

🌟 Can I Get 30 Hours Funded Early Years Provision? 🌟

Did you know that many families may be eligible for funded childcare support for their 2, 3 and 4-year-olds? Eligible working families can access up to 30 hours of funded childcare per week during term time, while all 3 and 4-year-olds are entitled to at least 15 funded hours. Some 2-year-olds may also qualify for funded places depending on family circumstances.

🎓🌟 Gorsemoor Graduates 2026! 🌟🎓

Last week, some of our wonderful children had the honour of attending a truly unforgettable graduation ceremony at the University of Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, as part of the Staffordshire Children’s University programme, and what an inspiring afternoon it was!

The Children’s University celebrates and rewards children for all the extra-curricular learning they take part in outside the classroom, from clubs and sports to music, volunteering, and more! It's based on powerful research from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), which shows how these experiences support children’s confidence, well-being, academic progress, and long-term success.

Our children had the chance to experience a real university-style graduation, complete with caps, gowns, and big smiles, and what a sight it was! The joy on their faces said it all, and we could not have been any prouder of the children who joined us for the ceremony!

Every single child represented our Gorsemoor Values with pride and maturity. We are incredibly proud of their dedication, enthusiasm, and the way they embraced this unique opportunity. They truly are a credit to our school community. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to Staffordshire Children’s University for hosting such a magical and meaningful afternoon for our pupils.

Year 3's Great Local Adventure!

Year 3 stepped outside the classroom this term and became real-life nature explorers! As part of their Living Things science topic, they ventured around the local area, sketching the plants and wildlife they discovered along the way. Armed with keen eyes, they searched high and low for fascinating minibeasts and a variety of different plants, bringing their learning to life in the great outdoors. What an exciting adventure!
