⚑️🎴 Gotta catch ’em allβ€¦πŸŽ΄βš‘οΈ

Today saw the launch of our brand-new Primary 7-run Pokémon Club and it was a huge hit! 🌟

Cards were traded, battles were fought and favourite Pokémon were proudly shown off! There was a brilliant buzz around the room as pupils compared collections, discussed tactics and put their negotiation and bartering skills to the test. 🀝🧠

Best of all, it was lovely to see pupils of different ages coming together over a shared interest, chatting, laughing and having lots of fun! πŸ’™

A huge well done to our Primary 7s for taking the lead and creating such a welcoming club.

πŸ—ΊοΈπŸ”Ž Exploring Our Local Community! πŸ”ŽπŸ—ΊοΈ

As part of their current enquiry, Primary 5 headed out on a local community walk, putting their observation and mapping skills into action!

As they explored, the children created sketches to record what they noticed along the route. Some chose to use map symbols they had learned about the day before, while others challenged themselves to begin drawing their own maps. ✏️🧭

Next week, they’ll build on this learning by creating a map of the route they walked, using symbols to represent key features and landmarks. A brilliant example of enquiry learning developing through curiosity, observation and real-life experiences! 🌍✨

Of course, no sunny community walk would be complete without some time to play at the park! β˜€οΈπŸ›πŸ’™

A big thank you to our parent helper for giving their time and helping to make the outing possible. πŸ’™βœ¨

πŸ₯•πŸ§ From Garden to Cake! 🧁πŸ₯•

Primary 7 put their Outdoor Learning skills to work on Monday as they helped P2/1 find, harvest and wash carrots from our school vegetable patch. 🌱πŸ₯•

With such an impressive haul, the big question was… what could we make with them? After some discussion, carrot cake was the very popular choice!

P7 then headed to the kitchen, turning our home-grown produce into delicious carrot cake. Even better, they shared their baking with our P1–3 classes and were delighted to see the smiles on the younger children’s faces as they tucked in - the teachers enjoyed some too!! πŸ˜‹πŸ’™

πŸ’™πŸŒ Online Safety πŸŒπŸ’™

A huge thank you to PC Cameron Shaw for delivering a really informative and valuable Online Safety session for parents and carers this evening.

Online safety is such an important issue for our children and families, and we really appreciate PC Shaw taking the time to share practical advice, guidance and information to help us support our children to stay safe in an ever-changing digital world.

Thank you also to everyone who came along this evening. πŸ’™βœ¨

πŸ’™βœ¨ Learning through play! βœ¨πŸ’™

Primary 1 and Primary 2 have been busy exploring, creating and learning through play! πŸ§©πŸ—οΈπŸŽ¨

Our play experiences give the children lots of opportunities to build friendships, share ideas and work together, while developing their confidence and independence. It’s wonderful to see their curiosity in action as they investigate, ask questions, try out their ideas and find different ways to solve problems. πŸ”ŽπŸ’‘

Through play, the children are developing so many important skills β€” communication, creativity, collaboration, problem solving and resilience β€” often without even realising just how much learning is taking place!

And, of course, there are plenty of smiles, laughter and fun along the way! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’™βœ¨

Primary 7 put some of our fantastic donated fruit from Tesco to very good use today, creating their own delicious fresh fruit salads! πŸ«πŸ“πŸ₯

The children worked brilliantly together to prepare and serve the fruit, developing lots of practical skills along the way β€” and there were certainly plenty of happy customers delighted to sample the finished products! πŸ˜‹

A tasty way to put learning into action and another huge thank you to Tesco for their generous donation! πŸ’™βœ¨

We’re incredibly grateful to Tesco for their very generous donation of a fantastic selection of fresh fruit and vegetables for our school. πŸ’™βœ¨

From butternut squash and pears to mangoes and berries, there was an amazing variety for our children to explore, taste and enjoy! πŸ₯πŸ“πŸ

Donations like this are a brilliant support to our school, helping us provide opportunities for healthy eating, food tasting, cooking and learning across our classes.

A huge thank you to Tesco for continuing to support us in this way β€” it is very much appreciated! πŸ’™βœ¨

πŸ’™βœ¨ A brilliant start to the new school year at Castlehill! βœ¨πŸ’™

It’s been a busy and exciting first few days as we’ve welcomed our new Primary 1 pupils and welcomed back our Primary 2–7s!

This year, we’re continuing to develop Enquiry-Based Learning, encouraging our children to become curious learners, confident questioners and critical thinkers. Classes have already been busy exploring ideas and developing their own β€˜Big Questions’ to help shape their learning. πŸ”ŽπŸ’

Our class charters are well underway, door designs are coming together, and there’s already lots of exciting learning taking place across the school! πŸ’™βœ¨

🍽️ School Meals

School meals continue to be free for all P1–P5 pupils, with meals for P6 and P7 costing Β£2.40.

The menu for the new school year is included below. 🍎πŸ₯•πŸ₯ͺ

Where possible, we would really appreciate families ordering meals in advance through iPayimpact. Having choices made beforehand helps our mornings run much more smoothly and saves valuable learning time in class. β°πŸ“š

Thank you for your continued support with this. πŸ’™βœ¨
