The following is a link to the ARU Emotion and Behaviour Survey, for which I am the Principle Investigator. If you are happy to take part yourself, or send around to family, friends, and colleagues – this would be greatly appreciated. Anyone is welcome to take part.
This survey is designed to help us learn more about how individuals' emotions can affect their behaviours. By participating, you are helping researchers to understand human behaviour and how society in general can be improved from that knowledge.
If you are interested in taking part, please click on the link:

Hi Everyone,

Join us via Teams Live for our third FREE webinar in the PIER Research Seminar Series 2020-21 on Wednesday 13th January to hear Ellen Daly speak on:

‘Rape, Gender and Class: Intersections in Courtroom Narratives’
In this online seminar, criminologist Ellen Daly will present her findings from a court observation study examining courtroom narratives in r**e and sexual assault trials.
The research shows that r**e myths remain prevalent in courtroom narratives and that they interact with broader cultural narratives to further undermine the credibility of victim-survivors of sexual violence. Specifically, the cultural narratives observed in these trials reflected embedded sexist and classist attitudes that are common in our society. The findings challenge claims that r**e myths are no longer a problem in r**e trials and begin to provide a deeper, more nuanced understanding of why some groups of victim-survivors are more likely to see a conviction than others.
Findings also highlight the role digital evidence can play in this, demonstrating the need for proper consideration of what is relevant and proportionate. This research therefore demonstrates the need for widening the lens through which r**e myths in the courtroom and the wider criminal justice system are viewed in research and contemporary debates.
Tickets can be booked via Eventbrite.

if you have any questions, please email [email protected]

We hope you can join us!

Best wishes,

The PIER Team
