Crossing the bridge, together. 🌉

The final day of Orientation marked the moment our new Cambridge MBA class crossed from Orientation into the MBA itself- putting new skills into practice through team challenges and plenty of team spirit along the way.

One final day to connect, collaborate and have some fun before stepping into the next chapter: Michaelmas Term.

Yesterday’s MBA Orientation focused on Governance, giving our new cohort practical tools and perspectives to navigate their Cambridge journey thoughtfully and responsibly- from academic integrity and programme expectations to the responsible use of AI.

A big thank you to Professor Alan Jagolinzer for sharing insights on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and to Severin Sorenson, the AI Whisperer, for an engaging, hands-on session on AI in Practice. 👏

A fantastic start to the year, with plenty of new perspectives to take forward! 🎓

Great ideas need to be questioned, tested and communicated.

Yesterday's MBA orientation focused on 'Debate'. 🎤

Great ideas need to be questioned, tested and communicated. We began with our MBA alumnus Stuart Barr on The Art of Influence and Persuasion, exploring communication and gravitas.

Our students then took those lessons to the Cambridge Union for a debate simulation, building arguments, thinking on their feet and finding their voice in one of Cambridge's most famous settings.

Leadership isn't only about making the case. It's about being open to having it challenged, too.

Cambridge is a place where ideas move from possibility to practice and today, our MBA students got to experience that first-hand.

As part of our Impact & Innovation theme, students visited ARM to explore the ideas, technologies and business thinking shaping the future. The visit offered a glimpse into Cambridge’s vibrant innovation ecosystem and the journey from bold ideas to real-world impact.
It was also a great opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom and see how innovation comes to life in practice an important part of the MBA experience ahead.

A huge thank you to Stacy Knoop and the ARM team for welcoming our students and sharing their time and insights with us. 🙌

What does it mean to build a career with a wider sense of responsibility?

Day 4 | Responsibility

Today, the Cambridge MBA Class of 2026 looked beyond their individual ambitions to consider the broader impact of business decisions on organisations, people and society.

With Professor Jennifer Howard Grenville, we explored Sustainable Business, considering how businesses can respond to complex challenges and create meaningful, lasting impact.

The session challenged the class to think beyond simple predictions: How do we prepare for a future we can’t fully anticipate? How do we understand the systems and interactions shaping the challenges ahead? And how can we create meaningful change when no one organisation can tackle these challenges alone?

As the class continues to think about their ambitions and the impact they want to have, one message stood out:

The future isn’t simply something we prepare for. We all have a role in creating it.

✨ Leadership is an art. A science. An alchemy.

The Cambridge MBA Class of 2026 is immersed in Orientation Week, meeting inspiring speakers, questioning assumptions and beginning to explore what it truly means to lead.

Day 2 | Alchemy
We explored The Alchemy of Leadership with Timo Boldt (EMBA 2014), founder and entrepreneur, who challenged the class to think about how leaders transform ambition, ideas and people into meaningful impact.

Day 3 | Management
With Professor Dame Sandra Dawson, we delved into the realities of management, understanding others, knowing when to listen, when to adapt and when to step forward and lead.

And perhaps one lesson stands out above all:

Leadership is never as easy as it looks.

But that’s the point. The most rewarding leadership journeys begin with a willingness to learn, question, adapt and grow.
