Registrations are open for this year recycling scheme and our teams of volunteers will be collecting real Christmas trees in CB1-CB5, CB21-CB24, CB25, SG8 and SG19 3 from 8-10 January 2026. Registrations close promptly on 4 January 2026.⭐

You can help support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care, by donating to have your tree collected by one of our amazing volunteers.💚

❄️✨ Snowman at Sunset – Reception & Year 1 ✨❄️

This afternoon our Reception and Year 1 children took to the stage for their dress rehearsal of Snowman at Sunset in front of the whole school – and what a magical performance it was! 🌅⛄️

We can’t wait to welcome their families to the performances:

• Wednesday 1:30pm
• Thursday 9:30am

The children have worked so hard learning their lines, songs, and actions, and their excitement is shining as brightly as the winter sunset. 🌟

This week has been full of festive cheer, creativity, and community spirit!

• 🎭 Reception & Year 1’s Winter Show Rehearsals
Reception and Year 1 have been practising hard for their upcoming winter performance. Their rehearsals are full of energy, excitement, and festive sparkle—we can’t wait to see the final show!
• 🎨 Decorating the school with children’s artwork
Our corridors are now bursting with colour thanks to the wonderful creations of our pupils. Their artwork has brought joy and pride to every corner of the school.
• 🎶 Carol Concert at St Matthew’s Church
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our amazing carol concert. The children sang beautifully, filling the church with festive spirit and celebration.
• 🏫 School Council & Eco-Council Meetings
This year’s councils met for the very first time, sharing ideas and setting goals to make our school even better and greener.
• 🦌 Rudolph Run for Charity
Our Rudolph Run was a huge success, raising money for Arthur Rank Hospice. The children ran with enthusiasm, showing both festive fun and community kindness.
• 🍰 Year Five Bake Sale
Year Five wowed us with their delicious treats at the bake sale. Thank you to everyone who baked, bought, and supported—it was a sweet success!
• 🎻 Orchestra Performance
Led by the wonderful Tracey, our orchestra gave a fantastic performance that showcased the talent and dedication of our young musicians.
• 🎁 Festive Raffle
Our festive raffle is now underway, with exciting prizes to be won. Thank you to all who donated and purchased tickets—your support makes a big difference.
✨ What a week! From creativity and music to fundraising and teamwork, our school community has truly shone.

Yesterday afternoon our school was filled with festive cheer as we came together for a truly special winter event.

• 🍰 Year 5 Bake Sale – our talented bakers wowed everyone with delicious treats, raising funds and smiles in equal measure.
• 🎶 School Orchestra Performance – the hall was alive with music as our orchestra delivered a stunning performance that captured the spirit of the season. Well done Tracey and her team!
• 🎁 Raffle Extravaganza – families and friends joined in the excitement, with some amazing prizes won and plenty of joyful moments shared. 🎄✨ Rudolph Run Magic at Mayfield! ✨🎄

Today our wonderful children laced up their trainers, popped on their reindeer antlers, and dashed with festive cheer in the Rudolph Run 🦌. Every step they took was in support of Arthur Rank Hospice, raising vital funds for the incredible care they provide in our community.

From the tiniest trotters to the speedy sprinters, the playground was filled with laughter, determination, and a whole lot of red noses! ❤️

We are so proud of their enthusiasm and the way they’ve shown that even small feet can make a big difference.

👏 A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored, cheered, and supported this joyful event. Together, we’re helping Arthur Rank Hospice continue their amazing work.

It's our second bake sale of the year and Yr 5’s turn to supply the goodies (thank you Y5).
Bakes will be £1 each to help us reach our fundraising goals and support the school.

On Friday 5th December we will once again be donning our antlers to raise money for the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge.

Mrs Stepney will be leading the reindeer dance warm-up ahead of a few laps of the school field.

Children, please come dressed in Christmas jumpers or red and brown (the colours associated with reindeer!) for our annual run.

🐧❄️ Year 6 have wowed us with their icy imagination! ❄️🐧
From torn-paper blizzards to waddling personalities, their penguin collages are bursting with creativity and charm. Each piece tells a frosty tale—some bold, some cheeky, all brilliant. We’re so proud of the care and flair they’ve poured into this chilly showcase.

Coming very soon...Mayfield's Wonderful Winter Craft Day! Every pupil will have the opportunity to make lots of lovely festive creations to bring home.
