Mixing, Molding & Celebrating: Mid-Autumn Festival Fun! 🌕

This week, our children celebrated the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival by making their very own delicious mooncakes!🥮

They took charge from scratch—mixing and rolling the dough, and making a purple sweet potato filling using 100% natural ingredients with no added sugar! 🍠

The best part? Enjoying their creations during snack time! Snack tastes so much better when you’ve made them with your own hands. 😋

Back in spring, our little gardeners planted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, and peppers. All summer long, the children have been taking great care of them—watering them every day and watching them closely.

Why do we put extra effort into cooking with our children? 👩‍🍳🧠

At our nursery, we love getting our little ones into the kitchen because it’s not just about making a tasty snack—it’s actual brain science in action!

🌟A Sensory Supercharge for the Brain: When children touch raw ingredients, mix the flour, and smell the cupcakes baking in the oven, they are creating millions of new neural connections. Handling real-world textures is vital for cognitive development.

🌟Understanding Cause & Effect: Cooking teaches the first lessons in logic. Children see firsthand that adding water to flour makes dough, and that applying heat changes its texture.

🌟Connecting Food to Life: By measuring out ingredients and mixing the flour themselves, they learn exactly how raw ingredients transform into the food we eat, fostering a hands-on, meaningful relationship with what they create.

There is deep educational value in the full circle of the process: they feel the ingredients, cook the meal, and eat their own creations. The pride and joy they feel from start to finish makes all the messy fun completely worth it!

A Huge Thank You for a Wonderful Open Morning! 🌷

We loved welcoming all the families who joined our Open Morning—it was an absolute joy to meet you and your little ones.

Our theme was inspired by the classic book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which we explored using a hands-on, Montessori-inspired approach.

The children had a truly immersive, full-sensory experience as they:

🍎Explored real fruits from the story
🍐Engaged their senses and fine motor skills through touching, slicing, and preparing the real fruits
🍓Tasted their delicious creations
🍊Learned key language concepts in both Mandarin and English

It was wonderful to watch the children engage all five senses while developing their confidence and language skills!
