The Clare Hall Mathematical Association wishes a Happy International Women’s Day to all the strong and inspirational women in mathematics! Today, we remember the achievements of women like Marie Curie and Emmy Noether, who not only did groundbreaking work but had to fight the establishment for their right to do maths and science. Furthermore, we stand in solidarity with the female mathematicians of today, who with every stroke of their pen, continue Curie and Noether’s tradition, simultaneously adding to our body of knowledge and carving another crack into the glass ceiling that hangs over mathematics and the hard sciences; promising to make our future more inclusive

CHMA is a graduate student society for Cambridge students with an interest in mathematical sciences.
Based at Clare Hall, but open to all graduate members of the university, we organise trips, talks, and other events, throughout the academic year.

In honor of International Women's Day this Wednesday, we at the CHMA are remembering the life of Maryam Mirzakhani. She became the first Iranian to achieve a perfect score in the IMO in 1995. After completing her Ph. D at Harvard, she held professorships at Princeton and Stanford. In 2014, she shattered the highest of mathematical glass ceilings, becoming the first female to be awarded the Fields Medal- recognizing "her outstanding contributions to the dynamics and geometry of Riemann surfaces and their moduli spaces." Sadly, in July, she passed away, but not before leaving a lasting impression on our world

The lecture with Professor Fokas was a smashing success thanks to all your support! Weekly reminder that maths lunch is tomorrow at 12:30 PM
Heya! It's Sunday so I'm here to remind you that our weekly lunch is tomorrow. All are welcome :)
Reminder that our weekly Clare Hall Maths lunch is tomorrow at 12:30 PM! Anyone with any sort of interest in maths and the people who do it is welcome :)
Hello all! Welcome to the new Facebook home of the Clare Hall Mathematical Association, where people from all walks with a common interest in maths come together. Here, we will post reminders for our weekly Monday lunches, termly lectures, termly trips outside of Cambridge, and our other events. Also, stay tuned for our upcoming biweekly riddle/puzzle contest!
