We were delighted to welcome our visiting scholar Dr Luping Huang, Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Sichuan University, for a public lecture titled “A Foreign Friend or an Indigenous Prophet? The Dilemma of Public Theology in China through the Lens of Y. T. Wu’s Thought” at the Faculty of Divinity on 2 June. The lecture was chaired by our Director, Dr Simeon Xu, with an engaging response from Songzan Xu, helping to stimulate a lively and rich discussion among participants.

We were delighted to have Dr Agnes Chiu, Assistant Professor and Director of the Center for Public Theology at China Evangelical Seminary North America, give her lecture, “Rooted and Resilient: Kuyper’s Ecclesiology for the Church Under Pressure,” at the Faculty of Divinity on 26 May 2026. Chaired by Dr Simeon Xu, with a response from Jacob Hargrave, the event was very well attended and sparked engaging discussion.

Last Thursday (21 May 2026), we had the privilege of hosting Professor Andrew Loke (Associate Professor, Department of Religion and Philosophy, Hong Kong Baptist University) for a stimulating lecture at the Faculty of Divinity on “Some Perspectives on Science and Christian Theology from the History of China and Their Relevance Today.”
Chaired by Dr Simeon Xu (CCCT), with Dr Pui Him Ip as respondent, the lecture offered thoughtful insights that sparked rich and engaging discussions.

Dr. Simeon Xu, Co-Director of CCCT, delivered a lecture at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou on Friday, 17 April.
Titled “Hope and Technomoral Futures—Why Do We Still Hope in the Age of Predictive AI.” The lecture offered a thought-provoking exploration of hope amid rapid technological change. Dr. Xu’s insightful and engaging presentation sparked lively discussion and was warmly received by the audience.

Prof. David Ferguson, Co-Director of CCCT, delivered a lecture at Fudan University in Shanghai on Thursday, 16 April.
Titled “Is Religion Natural?” The lecture was exceptionally well received, attracting a large number of attendees.

During the conference “Chinese Christian Scholarship and the Church in Global Perspective: Retrospect and Prospects”, Prof David Fergusson delivered three insightful lectures, including a public one. Our co-director Dr Simeon Xu chaired lectures, panel discussions, and delivered an inspiring closing remark. CCCT’s postgraduates — Lechang Cheng, Songzan Xu, and Chengcheng Liu — presented in various panels and were well received.
