MPW Cambridge MPW Cambridge is one of the UK's leading sixth form colleges. Offering students high quality A level

Each college within the MPW Group employs a common methodology that underpins our approach to teaching and learning:
● There is an absolute guarantee of fewer than 10 students in each A Level class
● Tutors are highly qualified to first or doctoral level and many are A level or GCSE examiners for the subjects that they teach
● MPW produces its own printed course materials for all major subjects
● There is a broad range of over 40 subjects from which to choose. These may be studied over durations ranging from one term to two years in any combination to suit the individual student
● All courses are underpinned by a strong exam practice component from the outset. There are monthly revision tests taken in all subjects at every level. And, in the final year during which examinations are sat, there are additional weekly timed assignments - all taken under supervised exam conditions
● At MPW there is an unusually detailed progress reporting to parents. Test and homework results are available throughout a student’s course on the parent intranet, and as well as regular parent evenings there are detailed written reports on each subject five times per year
● Central to MPW’s methodology is respect for students as young adults. We insist on strict punctuality in the attendance of lessons and the submission of assignments but are otherwise free of many of the traditional school rules which teenagers often find restrictive. Tutors and students are on first name terms and we aspire to create an enjoyable, socially relaxed atmosphere in which students enjoy coming to college and working hard. Art of the Week 🎨🧑‍🎨

The Art Department is delighted to showcase a beautifully atmospheric observational drawing created by Mia.

After achieving an outstanding Level 9 in GCSE Fine Art, Mia chose to continue her artistic journey at MPW, progressing to A Level Fine Art. We’re thrilled to see her building on such a strong foundation and developing her skills and confidence even further. 

As part of her current work, Mia has been exploring observational drawing through a variety of media and approaches. In this particularly striking piece, she has experimented with chiaroscuro lighting, creating an achromatic portrait of a woman whose elegant pose and commanding presence give her an almost regal quality. 

Mia has demonstrated wonderful sensitivity in her handling of tone, using delicate and controlled shading to describe the subtle features and contours of the three-dimensional form. Her careful observation, refined mark-making and understanding of light and shadow have combined to create a drawing that feels both sophisticated and incredibly expressive. 

We think the result is simply exquisite!  

It’s wonderful to see Mia continuing to challenge herself and develop her artistic voice, and we’re very excited to see where her A Level journey takes her next.

This week we were delighted to welcome 8 science teacher trainers from Oman's Teacher Training Institute and a member from the Cambridge University Press and Assessment, to have a tour of our school, watch teachers from our Science department in action and have a Q&A session with one of our Heads of Department, teaching staff and members of the Senior Leadership Team.

It was a productive day for all involved as they had discussions about education, cultural difference and research. 

We would like to thank Cambridge University Press & Assessment for inviting us to be involved in their work on supporting the professional development programme for the Ministry of Education in Oman's Teacher Training Institute. 

Our Principal, Ann Meisner and Assistant Principal (International), Inga Morrissey would like to thank our teachers Maria, Jackie, Krystian, Muhammed and Ana, and our students Assia and Elena for their contribution during this visit.

Art of the Week 🎨🧑‍🎨

The Art Department is delighted to kick off our Art of the Week celebrations for 2026 by showcasing an exciting piece by Sunny.

Sunny has created a creative and unique illustration exploring the theme of urban art and architecture. For this piece, he has fused together two very different artistic influences, combining the intricate, sketchy drawing style of Zachary Johnson with the bold graphic qualities and distinctive visual language of Carlo Stanga. 

Sunny has used these influences thoughtfully to create his own imaginative interpretation of the urban environment, exploring and connecting buildings from around the world within a single dynamic composition.  

We’re incredibly proud to be starting the year by showcasing Sunny’s work and look forward to seeing how his ideas and artistic style continue to develop.

Tailored, not Uniform isn't just a strapline, it encapsulates our entire approach to education: highly personalised teaching, 1:1 support, small class sizes, respecting our students as the independent young adults they are.

Mix, who is heading to the University of Sheffield to read Mechatronic and Robotic Engineering, shares how his experience of studying at MPW Cambridge has shaped not only his academic success, but shaped him as a person too.
