Last Friday, our Warden and Dhyan Ruparel (President of Robinson Brickhouse Theatre) had the pleasure of showing Jude Kelly CBE and her partner Andrew around the Robinson Brickhouse Theatre, discussing plans for Follies which has just been officially cast! Given her esteemed career, it was wonderful to hear Jude praise Robinson’s theatre and its unique architecture. We are thrilled that the theatre will be receiving its biggest-ever production - Follies, with tickets going on sale soon ahead of its October run.

On Saturday, Dhyan was delighted to tour Jude around the ADC Theatre, England’s oldest student playhouse, where he is currently Secretary. They discussed the past, present and future of the venue; Jude’s wealth of experience and stories proved thoroughly inspiring.

We are looking forward to establishing a relationship between Robinson’s Brickhouse Theatre Company and St Catherine's College, Oxford where Jude is Master, with exciting plans to follow as part of our half-centenary celebrations in 2027.

Congratulations to Robinson Fellow Professor Anuj Dawar FRS, (Professor of Logic and Algorithms, Department of Computer Science and Technology, Cambridge University) who has been elected to the Fellowship of the The Royal Society.

Anuj has been a fellow of Robinson College since 1999. He served as Deputy Warden of the college during 2017-18 and 2021-24. He has a first degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, a Masters’ degree from the University of Delaware and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.

On receiving the Fellowship, Anuj said “I am honoured to be elected a Fellow of the Royal Society. I am still stunned to find myself in such distinguished company. It feels wonderful to have my many years of work recognized in this way. This wouldn’t have been possible without the many colleagues and collaborators I have had the privilege to work with, especially the brilliant research students and postdocs who have been part of my research group. And I am very grateful to Robinson College for all the support I have had”.

Sir Paul Nurse, President of the Royal Society, said:
“I am delighted to welcome this newest group of exceptional scientists to the Fellowship of the Royal Society. Their contributions reflect the highest standards of scientific endeavour. Whether advancing our understanding of vaccines or exploring the transformative potential of mathematics and computation, their work exemplifies the enduring value of curiosity, creativity and rigorous inquiry.
Our Fellowship is strengthened not only by individual distinction, but by the diversity of perspectives and experiences its members bring. This incoming cohort highlights the truly international character of contemporary science and underscores the vital role that plays in achieving breakthroughs that benefit us all.”
