The Big Future is asking children and young people about their lives, their experiences and their hopes for the future. I will be using what they tell me to build a national picture of what matters to children today and to ensure their views are heard by Government.

For the first time, hundreds of thousands of children will be eligible to vote in the next general election at age 16, the biggest change to the franchise in half a century – yet just one in five children say politicians listen to them.

That’s why the Children's Commissioner for England is doing her final survey, The Big Future, to talk to a million children, to listen to them. And to find out about what it’s like to be a child today.

She is asking children about the changes they want to see in their communities, their biggest concerns, and their hopes for the future. More than anything, she would like to know what they think a good childhood should look like, now and in the future.

The survey takes just a few minutes to complete and can be accessed here: https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture

The survey closes on Friday, 23 October 2026,

We are looking forward to welcoming our Year 11 students and their families to our Meet the Tutor Evening at Northstowe Secondary College this evening, followed by Our Post 16 Information Evening.

This is a valuable opportunity for parents/carers and students to meet with their tutor, discuss how the year has started, and strengthen the partnership between home and school as well as using the opportunity to speak to Post 16 providers, get an idea of where you might like to go next and learn more about your next steps.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Please remember that students should attend alongside their parent/carer.

We look forward to seeing you this evening and working together to support your child's success throughout the year.

On Friday 25th September, Northstowe Secondary College will be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning in our school reception, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Throughout the day, some of our student leaders will be running a cake stall in reception, selling a selection of delicious baked goods alongside tea and coffee.

We would love to welcome parents, carers and members of our local community to join us. Please do pop down to reception during the school day for a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake, all in support of this fantastic cause!

We would also be grateful for any donations of sweet treats to sell on our stall. Whether homemade or shop-bought, all contributions are very welcome! Please send any donations into school on Thursday or Friday morning, to be dropped off in D5. If homemade, please include a full ingredients list so that we can identify any allergens. We kindly ask that all donations are nut-free.

At the end of the school day, any remaining cakes will be sold to students after school, giving everyone the opportunity to get involved and support our fundraising efforts.

We hope to see as many of you as possible on Friday, and thank you in advance for supporting such a worthwhile cause.
