☕️ On our last episode of ‘Fancy A Cuppa?’ recommended a visit to The Fens, primarily the area outside of Cambridge near the city of Ely in the East of England.
🌿 There’s a National Trust property out there called and it protects a huge area of The Fens and is a wonderful place to explore and see wildlife.
👩🏫 A fen is an area of marshy, flat wet land in England. Normally it would be written with a lower case ‘f’ but if you’re referring to the specific geographic area of marshland and flat plains that run across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk then you capitalise it as a proper noun - ‘The Fens’. It’s a very biodiverse area, which means it has many different types of plants and animals. Some species can only be found in fenland areas.
✍️ Have you visited before? What did you think of the landscape? Would you like to visit?
