Salt Volcano Ingredients: 1 cup room temperature water 1/4 cup vegetable oil Salt (rock salt or table salt) Optional food coloring Directions: 1. Begin by pouring 1 cup of room temperature water into a clear jar or glass. 2. If you'd like to add color to your volcano, add a few drops of food coloring into the water and stir gently to mix. 3. Slowly and carefully pour 1/4 cup of vegetable oil into the jar on top of the water. Do not stir or mix the oil and water; allow them to settle into two distinct layers. 4. Next, take your salt (either rock salt or table salt) and sprinkle it gently into the jar. You should see immediate reactions as the salt interacts with the oil and water. 5. Sit back and watch the fascinating effects as the "volcano" erupts with bubbles and fizzing from the salt! Tips & Variations: 1. Experiment with different amounts of salt to see how it affects the eruption. More salt will produce more bubbles, while less salt may create a gentler reaction. 2.
