The Ozkurtulus brothers both took first place in their respective groups in the men’s freestyle kumite (sparring), with Selim taking the seniors group place and a second place in the men’s kata. Emily Hornyákné just missed out on the medals this time, but I am sure with the effort she is putting in she will be on the podium next time! They are all now training with our main squad and working hard.

It is with great pleasure that I presented Alex Stafford his Shodan (1st Dan) certificate and belt. Now the hard work really starts!
So many students reach this level and think that they have cracked it. The truth is that they are only really starting the real journey. So many give up at this point as their parents set it as a target. Those that push on soon realise there is so much more to it.
I am glad to say that like most of my Black Belts Alex is pushing on and I am looking forward to seeing him attend our squad training.

It was great to see so many students turn up for training on Wednesday evening. Okay there was the carrot of collecting their belts and certificates from the weekends grading. Congratulations to all of those who graded.
Whilst it is very hot, we can ensure we are well hydrated and adapt to the conditions. These are ideal conditions for well controlled stretching. Of course care should be taken not to push beyond comfort levels.
