The oldest English Language School in Cambridge, UK, established 1954. British Council accredited, a founding member of EnglishUK and IALC member.

General English, IELTS, FCE and CAE preparation for ages 16+ and camps for juniors aged 9-17. Where it all began. Studio Cambridge was started by Tony Mills in 1954. As a prisoner in World War II, Tony had seen how the teaching and learning of languages could break down cultural, international and even political barriers. When he returned home he began teaching English in his wife's "studio" (she was an artist) and "The Studio School of English" was born.

Throwback Thursday! 🥳

We’re making some exciting improvements around school this week to get everything looking its best for summer, and we’ve uncovered some fascinating little pieces of Cambridge and Studio history along the way!

Hidden behind an old radiator, we discovered a collection of treasures from years gone by. Amongst old bus tickets and coins (many of which are no longer legal tender), we found a Madame Tussauds ticket from 1981, a cinema ticket stub and group lunch token from 1992, a disco ticket, and even a wrapper from some Japanese chewing gum! 😊

It’s amazing to think how long these items have been tucked away. Do any of these bring back memories? Have you visited any of these places, or do you remember when bus tickets looked like this? We’d love to hear your stories in the comments ⬇️

Another former Studio student returned to visit this week!

Katherine studied here in 1991, when she was just 21 years old. Originally from South Korea and now living in Sydney for the past 20 years, she shared how her time at Studio changed the course of her life.

She told us that without studying here, she may never have had the opportunities to travel the world, improve her English, or eventually settle in Australia.

Even after all these years, she is still friends with some of the students she studied with here!

Stories like Katherine’s are a reminder that the impact of education can last a lifetime ✨

It was wonderful to see Katherine again 😊
