GRADUATE FASHION WEEK AWARD WINNER!

Congratulations to CSVPA BA (Hons) Fashion student Safiya on winning the Culture & Heritage Award at Graduate Fashion Week 2026!

Originally from Kazakhstan, Safiya's powerful collection celebrates the strength, bravery and freedom of Kazakh women.

Drawing inspiration from the tradition of displaying carpets in the home Safiya explains: “I decided to make different garments out of carpet to show women are not only decoration or home, she is also a warrior, she is brave, she is strong.”

The Culture & Heritage Award recognises graduating designers whose work explores, preserves and reimagines cultural identity through fashion. In a highly competitive category, Safiya's collection stood out for its meaningful interpretation of personal heritage and its celebration of her culture.

We're incredibly proud of this well-deserved achievement and can't wait to see what comes next for Safiya.
