I pick two Italian reds from a w**e tasting evening I’m hosting in Cambridge.

They need food to be enjoyed properly - either salty food or with lots of added tomato.

Thankfully that describes Italian cuisine rather well!

What a rollercoaster ride our weather this year handed to English w**emakers.
My local vineyard Saffron Grange did well. This week they were harvesting as early as they have ever done.

A great question from David at a recent w**e tasting.

He likes Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf du Pape, so what else can he try?

In this video I have two answers, one of them you won’t see coming.

Taking a red w**e to a dinner party - are you worried you might be judged for your choice?

Here’s a way to get better at describing w**e.

Many of us seize up. We aren’t sure what we can taste - we’re not used to thinking about it.

And we don’t want anyone telling us we’ve got it wrong.

You can start by asking yourself if the w**e comes across as a rich flavour or a sharp flavour. It’s a great way in.

It’s easier than you might think.

There’s a simple test to find out if your red w**e needs aeration.

Taste it. See if the tannins seem a bit too much. It’s your decision.

And this video gives you the steps.

I’ve got problems with the way “crafted” is casually thrown onto w**e labels.

It says very little. Much prefer the labels where they explain their process.

What w**e word would you ban?

My thanks to Henrica for a great question!

In this video I go through how to keep opened w**e for later.

There’s a 2-day, 4-day and 8-day method and then the foolproof method (if you were ever to need it!).

Let me know any other questions you may have!

You are unlikely to choose a w**e if you don’t know what it is.

So here’s the lowdown on w**es labelled Beaune.

It’s very flexible with food.
