TWS is the oldest student-run policy think tank in the UK. We mainly publish policy research by our student members, often in consultation with or commissioned by think-tanks, academics, Lords and MPs. As a student think-tank, we aim to pioneer a new and simple approach to student politics: a non-ideological, pragmatic and constructive engagement with policymakers, on their terms. It's an approach that's getting increasingly popular across the UK and beyond. We hope it's of interest to you too!
Here are a few words from on of our co-heads of Policy. Interested in taking on this role? Head to the link in our bio where you will find more details about Committee applications.
Here are a few words from our Executive Director, explaining what The Wilberforce Society does and why you should get involved.
Committee applications are still open and more details can be found at the link in our bio!

TWS presents Cambridge students with the opportunity to get involved in some of the most exciting work that happens on the Cambridge Campus. TWS is not a traditional students’ society but a fully operating think tank that enables students to accomplish significant milestones.
The opening of the committee for applications presents an exciting opportunity for you to get involved with:
Designing and drafting the themes of policy papers, some of which have been commissioned by MPs and debated in the European Parliament such as TWS’ Report on Brexit and others which have been produced in collaboration with other organisations such as the Oxford Diplomatic Dispatch and the Telos Press
Hosting our Podcast which has hosted the likes of Lord Wilson of Dinton, Professor Kets De Vries, and Professor Berman
Invite highly admired speakers for events and our annual Conference, having previously hosted in Cambridge, the Prime Minister of Slovakia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, No10 Downing Street’s Chief of Staff among many others and organised insightful Drinks Reception at the House of Lords with some of the leaders of the British Society
Host the Lord Wilson TWS Essay Prize
Feel free to contact the incumbents in any of these roles if you’d like further information or to come to our End of Committee Social! Please email the Executive Director for general queries about the application process or the Society.
The deadline for all applications for any position is 29th of March (Sun), 23:59 GMT, with selected interviews happening w/c 30th March (online).
If you wish to apply for Executive Director, please note an earlier deadline - 22nd of March (Sun), 23.59 GMT, with selected interviews happening w/c 23rd March (online).
We encourage applications for a diversity of roles (2-3), as given high competition for some positions, rejection does not necessarily mean incompatibility with the committee.
