CALLING ALL SCHOOLS
We need your help to research new forms of support for children in education.

It has been suggested that improvisational music therapy could be a helpful tool to develop autistic children’s social communication skills and could improve their wellbeing more broadly. We are seeking to test this claim.

To participate, schools would be asked to:
-Circulate information about the study to parents/carers
-Provide a space to hold music therapy sessions with an academically qualified music therapist
-Provide a space for a researcher to conduct research assessments with participants

In return, we can offer the improvisational music therapy courses absolutely FREE!
The study will run for two years, with each individual participant engaging in nine months of sessions. Autistic students aged 7-11 years old would be invited to participate.

Our latest research shows that individuals are more likely to have chronic mental and physical health conditions, and report lower quality healthcare.

Lead research Elizabeth Weir says:

"This study should sound the alarm to healthcare professionals that their autistic patients are experiencing high rates of chronic conditions alongside difficulties with accessing healthcare"

Thank you to everyone who took part in this work and told us of their healthcare experiences.
