We are looking for a simple music player for use in class. If anyone has an unused Toniebox, children's radio, small CD player, or similar device that they would be willing to donate, we would be incredibly grateful.

We are delighted to welcome Mad Science Club to Bar Hill Primary.

The club is available to children in Years 1 to 6, and starts on Thursday 1st October.

Sessions are full of exciting demos, science challenges, individual projects and investigation based around the topic of the day. Children will make projects each term to take home and keep the exploration going. With a variety of unique science equipment to explore, each week is a new adventure.

We are delighted to share that our school has achieved the Outstanding level of accreditation through the STARS (Sustainable Travel Accreditation and Recognition for Schools) ModeShift programme.

For several years, we have proudly achieved a Good level of accreditation, so we are especially pleased to have reached the Outstanding level this year. This is the highest level we can achieve, so our challenge now is to maintain this fantastic standard and continue building on the positive work already taking place across our school community.

Each year, we submit our school travel plan through the STARS ModeShift programme. Our travel plan looks at how our school community travels to and from school and sets out the actions we are taking to encourage safer, healthier and more sustainable ways of travelling.

Throughout the year, we have taken part in a wide range of activities and initiatives, including JTA challenges, walking, cycling and scooting activities, road-safety education, public transport promotion and other active travel opportunities. We also collect evidence of participation and impact, helping us to understand and demonstrate the difference these activities are making.

This achievement would not have been possible without the support, enthusiasm and commitment of our whole school community. Thank you to all our children, families and staff for getting involved and embracing the many opportunities to travel actively and sustainably.

We are particularly proud that sustainable and active travel has become such an important part of our Healthy School ethos.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS UPDATE
The local authority are currently processing a high volume of Free School Meals applications.

If you have already submitted an application on or after 20 August, please do not submit a further application unless you have been specifically advised to do so by the FSM / EWB team.

Duplicate applications will delay the assessment of both the original application and applications submitted by other families.

The local authority working through applications as quickly as possible and appreciate everyone's patience during this busy period.
