Our Early Years pupils welcomed local textile artist Sandra Scott to Stephen P***e Cambridge for a colourful morning of creativity and discovery. π¨
Sandra shared examples of her beautiful textile artwork, showing the children how she uses different materials to create pieces of all sizes. They also explored her African-inspired masks, looking closely at the shapes, colours and patterns within each design.
Inspired by Sandraβs work, the children created their own unique masks using collage materials, adding features including eyes, noses, mouths, ears and even earrings. The experience sparked so much enthusiasm that many continued making masks independently after the session, expressing their own artistic ideas through play. πβ¨

A huge congratulations to our Year 10 team, Jamie B, Darius K and Mohan D, whose innovative project, Chlorify, won Best Research (Years 7β11) at the prestigious TeenTech Awards! π±β¨
Hosted at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the national finals bring together some of the UK's brightest young innovators, celebrating ideas that use science, technology and engineering to solve real-world challenges.
Chlorify explores ways to increase plant carbon fixation by boosting chloroplast counts and investigates long-term biomass storage solutions to help reduce decomposition and support carbon capture.
Congratulations also to our Year 7 finalists, Lizzy L and Jasmine H, whose sustainable Kool Katz concept impressed judges after earning a place in the national finals. Reaching this stage is a fantastic achievement in itself.
We're incredibly proud of both teams for their creativity, dedication and ambition, and delighted to see Chlorify recognised with a national award. π

Adventure, courage and resilience in action! π²ποΈ
Our Year 8 students recently swapped the classroom for the great outdoors, enjoying an unforgettable residential at Danbury Outdoors packed with challenge, laughter and teamwork.
From high ropes, zip wires and the Leap of Faith to canoeing, mountain biking, archery and bushcraft, students embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and determination. Whether conquering a fear of heights, mastering new skills or encouraging friends through each challenge, they demonstrated incredible resilience and a real willingness to step outside their comfort zones.
What made the trip truly special was the way students supported one another, celebrated each other's successes and strengthened friendships along the way. Experiences like these help build confidence, character and memories that last a lifetime. π€
A huge well done to Year 8 and thank you to the staff at Danbury Outdoors and our own dedicated team for making it possible. π©΅

β½π What do football and books have in common? More than you might think!
As part of our celebrations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the National Year of Reading, we were delighted to welcome Branford Boase Award-winning author Mitch Johnson to Stephen P***e Cambridge Senior.
More than 200 students from Year 7, alongside Year 6 pupils from Stephen P***e Cambridge Junior and Kingβs Ely Prep, discovered how football can tell stories far beyond the final whistle. Through his novel Strike, Mitch explored the hidden realities behind the beautiful game, encouraging students to think about fairness, inequality and the people who make the sportswear and footballs we use every day.
The afternoon was packed with football quizzes, readings, fascinating insights into Mitchβs writing process, and thoughtful discussion.
A huge thank you to Mitch Johnson for such an inspiring and thought-provoking visit. Weβre also incredibly grateful to the fantastic team at Waterstones Cambridge, and to our wonderful Head Librarian, Iayat Riaz, whose hard work and dedication made this memorable event possible.
A wonderful afternoon celebrating the power of reading to spark curiosity, empathy and a deeper understanding of the world around us. ππ
