Abbey College Cambridge Abbey College Cambridge is a top-performing independent School for students aged 13-21 located in the heart of Cambridge.

Since opening in 1994, Abbey College Cambridge has developed a reputation for academic excellence and outstanding personal support. Students achieve exceptional results in A Levels, Foundation and GCSE. Every year a high proportion of our students progress to study at one of the top 5 UK Universities (Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial, University College London and the London School of Economics and Political Sciences) studying courses such as medicine, engineering, law, business, mathematics and sciences. Being situated in the heart of one of the world’s greatest university cities, we have been able to develop strong links with the University of Cambridge. Many of our teachers studied at Cambridge themselves, and we are able to offer our students specialist preparation courses, visits to the university’s colleges and departments, and internships at university laboratories, the world-renowned Addenbrooke’s teaching Hospital, and at multinational high-technology firms like ARM. Our success has seen the college grow and expand over the years. In September 2016 we welcomed the first students onto our new, purpose-built campus at Homerton Gardens. Designed by our staff, it’s a place to inspire and nurture success, a place that feels like home.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at yesterday’s Student Enrichment Fair!

Enrichment opportunities play a vital role in the student experience, helping learners develop new skills, explore their interests, and enhance their academic success.

From sports and movement, to creative endeavours and leadership opportunities — getting involved outside the classroom helps students build confidence, create meaningful relationships, and develop skills that will support them throughout their studies and beyond.

We loved seeing so many students connecting with our enrichment leaders and taking the first step towards making the most of their ACC journeys.

Our new students are already making the most of life in Cambridge!

Yesterday, they attended the first session of our Abbey Inspires programme at Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. The visit provided an inspiring introduction to the opportunities ahead and was the first of many University of Cambridge lectures our students will enjoy throughout the year.

A warm welcome to all of our new students and families as you join the Abbey College community! 🎉

It’s been wonderful to see everyone arriving, settling in and making new friendships. A special thank you to our fantastic Orientation Leaders, who have been doing an incredible job helping students find their way around campus and feel at home from day one.

A new academic year is almost here! 🎓✨

We are so excited to welcome our students back to Abbey College Cambridge next week, and preparations are well underway to make sure we are ready for another exciting year.

As we look ahead to 2026/27, Principal Ellen Hesse and Assistant Principal Pastoral Alison Bignall have been reflecting on the many new opportunities in store for our students – from new academic initiatives and exciting enrichment opportunities to a continued focus on wellbeing, personal development and preparing students for their futures.

It’s going to be a fantastic year, and we can’t wait to see our campus come alive again as our students return and our new students begin their Abbey journey.

Lucia's fantastic achievement is a reflection of her hard work, dedication and commitment throughout her studies. Her success on the Biomedicine Pathway has provided a strong foundation for the next stage of her academic journey, and her progression to one of the UK's leading universities is richly deserved.
