What is a poem?

A poem is a piece of writing that expresses feeling and teaches children about sounds and rhythms.

In the pre school room we introduced the poetry book this week as part of our music and poetry week. The children were really engaged listening to the different sounds and rhythms. To enhance this further we introduced a shaker to the learning time to highlight the rhythm of the poems.

We look forward to continuing our love for poetry weekly during our daily routines.

Exciting news for our lovely Hattie!

Nutrition is key!

At Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Cambridge we have a sugar and salt free menu that has been carefully designed by a nutritionist.
We cater for all allergies and our meals are carefully planned by our in house wonderful chef.

We believe in giving the children the best start in life to support all areas of development.

Open ended Art

The children have enjoyed collecting natural resources to create their very own self portraits!
The outdoors provides endless opportunities for children. It calms their minds and sparks creativity, inviting them to explore a world full of imagination.

Submarines...

This week, the children have been discovering sea vehicles. Our Tweenies have been changing their perspective by looking through water to observe how shapes shift, attempting to guess what they are, as if they were in a submarine.

Play, Play, Play........

Play is incredibly valuable for young children. It helps create strong brain connections, enhances emotional control, and develops important social skills, while also promoting physical health. Rather than being a break from learning, play is crucial for children under five as it allows them to understand the world and build the cognitive skills they will use for a lifetime.

Up Up and away.......✈️

The children have been learning about all things air travel!

Our older children have set up their own plane in our garden.

"Have you got your ticket"
"Enjoy your flight"
"Are we going to Budapest?"

The children have become deeply involved in the airport role play and revisited the play daily engaged as a group, building on their previous knowledge. They have been taking turns and sharing their life experiences of holidays with each other!!!
