About the emergency message from the government
Cambridgeshire Deaf Association
We’re here for local deaf people of all ages and their families to get the most out of life. We put deaf people first in everything we do.
We provide support, advocacy, social opportunities, care and a range of other innovative services like sign language classes, media, sports, deaf awareness training and campaigning. We operate every day of the week and every week of the year improving the wellbeing of deaf people. Every other month, a BSL lounge is run in Cambridge for deaf and hearing people to attend: https://cambsdeaf.org/community/deaf-pubs/cambridge-bsl-lounge/

It was also great to have Joel from signwowuk there to see the work they are sponsoring us for. It’s an important and exciting show for women to Thrive, and we’re incredibly grateful for their continued support in making it happen.
In today’s episode, the ladies discussed the truth about forever chemicals and the wildfires happening around the world. They also put their skills to the test with the matching game! Did they excel or flop? 👀

61 Years of Love: A Deaf Love Story ❤️
Meet Richard and Valerie, a Deaf couple who have been married for an incredible 61 years.
We sat down with them in their beautiful garden to hear their story on how they met, their life together, the challenges they’ve faced, the memories they’ve made and what has kept their relationship strong for more than six decades.
Their story is a beautiful reminder that love, communication and companionship can stand the test of time.
🎥 Watch Richard and Valerie share their incredible love story and a quick-fire quiz at the end.
After climbing just one mountain, Michael Woods asked himself a simple question..
“What’s the highest mountain in the world?”
The answer was Everest.
With no high-altitude experience, the wrong clothing, and little idea of what it would take, he set himself one of the biggest challenges imaginable.
It wasn’t until he got home and started researching that he realised the true scale of the commitment ahead.

We're proud to share ITV Anglia coverage of our call for deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing people to be fully included in social care reform.
At CDA, we believe Deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing people must be at the heart of decisions about social care. Everyone deserves equal access to services that meet their communication needs and enable them to live independently with dignity and choice.
A huge thank you to ITV Anglia for helping present our message and highlight why accessible, inclusive social care matters.

Sometimes, the hardest step is the first one.
🏔️ Michael Woods’ first mountain was Snowdon. Before that, he’d never even walked over a hill!
At the start, he wanted to turn back. But reaching the summit changed everything. The sense of achievement, the incredible views, and proving to himself that he could do it sparked a dream that would eventually lead him to stand on the summit of Mount Everest as the first Deaf person in the UK and Europe to achieve the feat.
