Popping popcorn kernels over a campfire using sieves, Year 2 enjoyed their first Forest School session in The Wild Place with Miss Harder yesterday.

With Year 2 now joining the programme, we're delighted to say that every year group in Pre Prep, from Preschool to Year 2, is now taking part in Forest School lessons, creating even more opportunities for outdoor learning.

We celebrated Apple Day at St Faith’s with a delicious showcase of locally grown apples and apple-inspired dishes!

Pupils enjoyed tasting a selection of apples picked by Chef Malcolm and his family, including Worcester, Spartan and Discovery varieties. A big thank you to Malcolm and his family for sharing their harvest with us.

Our catering team also marked the occasion with a menu full of seasonal favourites:

On Tuesday, pupils were delighted to welcome author Joel Arcanjo to St Faith’s. Sharing the story behind his Crookhaven series, J.J. spoke about how a childhood love of reading inspired his journey to becoming a writer, introduced pupils to his latest series Beast Mode, and answered plenty of thoughtful questions along the way.

The visit concluded with a book-signing session, giving pupils the chance to meet J.J. in person and leave inspired to discover new stories of their own.

Recently, groups of Year 8 pupils have visited The Great Hall at The Leys School, Cambridge for a technical theatre taster session.

Working with James Andrews, Theatre Tech and Production Assistant, and Adele Meads, Theatre Technician, pupils explored both lighting and sound engineering.

They learned how to rig and focus stage lighting from the tension wire grid above the auditorium, adjust coloured lighting gels, and check lighting positions from the tech box. They also became sound engineers, setting up microphones and using the mixing desk.

From great sportsmanship in football to meeting a bestselling author, St Faith’s pupils have enjoyed a week filled with new ideas, practical learning and memorable experiences.

📖 Pupils in Years 5 - 8 welcomed bestselling author J.J. Arcanjo, who shared the journey behind his Crookhaven series and introduced his new Beast Mode books.
🍏 A visiting nutritionist explored the link between gut health, wellbeing and concentration with our youngest pupils and parents.
🎧 Year 8 pupils enjoyed a backstage theatre technical taster, learning about lighting and sound production at The Leys School, Cambridge.
⚽ A positive end to the football season.

What's been happening in the Library at St Faith's recently? 📚

At breaktimes, pupils have been enjoying a quiet read on the Library's squishy beanbags, while our Eco Committee held its first meeting of the new academic year and got creative designing artwork for some special greeting cards.

Meanwhile, Preschool and Reception enjoyed story time with our Librarian, who introduced them to Gruffalo Granny, the latest story in the beloved Gruffalo series.

Year 7 had a brilliant time at their two-day teambuilding event, taking on challenges at school and at Grafham Water.

Tuesday was Individual Photographs Day, with plenty of smiles from pupils and staff as this year’s portraits were captured.
